The Tech-2 is useful for a lot more than just programming modules. I find it handier to use than a laptop out at the car and when driving.

Well I did end up buying one anyway that I've been using to try and figure out my other issues. I have a new driver's seat memory module coming so we'll be attempting our first pass-through soon.

There is more to it than the screen. It seems there is some poor connection where VCI Plugs in. When I have all the boards out on my desk I can get it to work with some fidgeting. I have reflowed all the solder on all the pins with little luck in making it work consistently.

Could it be the power supply going bad? They sell them on ebay.

It's something about the connection between the main board and the VCI. If I pull all the guts out of the case it works most of the time but I have to fidget with that connection. I don't trust it to work for me consistently anymore.Could it be the power supply going bad? They sell them on ebay.

I tried reflowing the solder again and the problem got worse. I even used our really nice hot air solder reflowing machine at work. Fuggit, new one on the way…
sell it on ebay for parts and recoup a little bit

be sure to put it for parts or not working, and clarify in the listing that it does not work, people are dumb and this way no one can "reasonably" leave bad feedback

You underestimate the foolishness of people Wes!
I sold some out of hydro scuba tanks once on ebay and was dinged because they were out of hydro! LOL
But yes, selling it for parts will be good. There's usually one or two parts units on there but I didn't see any this morning.
I know very well, ebay is what I have done for a living for the last 23 years, luckily the really dumb ones pretty much eliminate themselves eventually.. I have about 250 of them on my block list and I do not block someone without good cause. I have had people message me over time asking why they cannot purchase from me? lol I don't remember but there must be a good reason why...

What price range you feel os fair for a non working unit with the case, cables and candi. Maybe less the vci as I might keep that.

I just realized something. Maybe I should have gone with an MDI2 this time around? But don't you need a subscription to do stuff with it?
the vcxnano functions as a mdi2, but yes the gds2 software requires a sub unless you can find the hacked version, still need to pay for programming though
