Got the wiring done so the C-shaped led acts as DRL only and also will come on with the park lamps. Just waiting on parts to convert the old drl bulb to a park/turn signal. Then need to decide to move forward with the led projector retrofit.

Yeah I did the same DRL to turn/park mod. What parts did you order? I just used sockets from a spare set of headlights and forced fitted them into the housings. They are keyed differently from the single filament DRL sockets.

The verdict is in. Looks like the cir-clip ate through the washer in the case. Almost seems like a part is missing. Looking up the assembly now. Need parts.

It's supposed to look something like this but I only found one washer. I think the last guy in here had extra parts.
Now to find that part. Any help @915_Tahoe?

EDIT: Ok, looks like 25980219. I guess there was a design change and they only use the one thick one now. Seems like they should have a thrust washer… Now to find one near 53066.

Looks like it got hot from the snap ring riding on the washer/spacer
did the magnet have much metal on it?
One thing I noticed was that the CV axle pulled back away from the stub shaft when I unbolted it like the boots were pulling on it. Thats a Cardone axle from RockAuto. That pull, although not very strong is bearing on that snap-ring and washer.

But… the front suspension is at full drop right now. I bet it doesn’t pull when it’s sitting on the ground.
