Good point. Old design, might crack. Yeah definitely just going to get a new one. I shopped it around as you recommended. Cheapest so far with shipping is $539. Weird, its a dealer in Florida. A Dallas GM dealer has one and their a lot closer to me but they wanted $575 with shipping. Might be worth the $35 for a shorter overall shipping route. Less opportunity for it to get damaged in transit.
Once you see the box you will realize there's almost no way it can get damaged. It's like a custom built foam padded fortress. The dash is suspended in the middle with that rigid foam. I wouldn't worry how far it ships.

My local dealer was $200 more expensive than the one I had shipped. And yes UPS can handle it, that's how mine came. I'm sure FedEx can take it too.

I don't know how they did that, they must have some way around it with a commercial account or something. I have a UPS account and when I tried to make a label for one I wanted to buy it said the box was too big and it had to go freight. I don't have a FedEx account but their cost estimator on their site said the same thing.

I don’t know but it came UPS with my regular delivery guy.

Lots of posts here on this topic. Unfortunately, a very common issue. As @avalonandl stated, replacement is expensive and difficult, and the overlay has worked for many folks here. For me, I just live with it.
We have had a dash mat on out 99 Tahoe from day 1 and the dash cracked badly. The Arizona sun is brutal.

Its amazing what you hear from dealers. Took the truck to my local Chevy dealer here in San Antonio to get the airbag recall work completed. Asked about the dash. Told them I've found several at various dealers around the US for an average price of about $400 plus ~$200 for shipping.

First the Service Writer told us those must be the "older design" dashes because in her experience the new dashes were much more expensive.

Second, when we went to pickup the truck, same service writer told us she can't get one and doesn't know how the other dealers are getting them because they're just not available.

I will be ordering one this weekend or Monday at the latest. We'll see....

You didn’t ask them for a price?

You need to talk to the parts department, not service advisor.

I did, they never offered one. Just what I outlined. My general impression is they are not very up to speed on what's going on with these dashes. What I expected was a price (likely not competitive but at least a price), what I got was confusion lol.

I had the truck in for the air bag recall work and to clear a P0315 code. We asked them about the dash at the same time. The Service Writer talked to the Parts Department on our behalf but I agree the conversation probably would have gone better if I had talked to them direct myself. We also asked about cost to install the dash and they quoted us $1500 including parts, labor etc...

Of course, that was before they decided they couldn't get us one. I may call the Parts Dept direct myself and try again.

Question for those that might be able to help. Esp other 2007 Tahoe owners though year model may not be that significant.

BLUF: I've ordered a new dash and now its on back order. Has been since Aug 12th.

Ordered from a GM Dealer in Florida (https://www.gmpartsnow.com) as they had a 50% off shipping deal that cut the cost of the dash, shipped to me, down to about $530. My question is around Part Numbers. Usually anytime I want to find a PN for something on the truck I goto gmpartsdirect.com. Maybe that's part of the problem so let me know but according to them the PN for the dash in my truck is 23224747. As recommended here, I did a search on that PN, found the best deal and ordered it.

The same day I ordered it, a person from gmpartsnow.com contacted me asking to confirm the VIN of my truck. I sent it to him and emails me back saying that part number is incorrect for my VIN and says I need to order PN:19331336. He also sent me a copy of the exploded parts diagram he was looking at just to confirm the part I was trying to order was the full replacement dash (attached). I confirmed it with him and told him to go ahead and so that is now the PN that is on back order.

What's weird to me is that when I called my local Chevy dealership here in San Antonio they told me the same thing. I gave them PN:23224747 and the told me their computer system told them PN:19331336 was correct. And of course while they had two in stock for PN:23224747 they had none on hand for PN:19331336. I had asked them to price PN:23224747 for me anyway and they quoted me about $750 or so which was almost double what I was seeing elsewhere for that same part number. Most dealerships were quoting that part number at ~$430 without shipping so I passed.

So my question is, why are these dealerships finding a different part number for my VIN than the PN I got from GMPartsdirect.com. When I originally looked up the part there, I used both the make/model search AND the VIN search and both led me to PN:23224747. Is it possible that PN:19331336 is the original Part Number for the original "Bad design" and PN:23224747 is the newer version with corrected reinforcements? It seems odd to me that PN:23224747 seems to be readily available whereas no one has PN:19331336 in stock (I say that with the caveat that I have not really tried to call around yet to see if anyone has that PN, I just know that my local dealer did not have it nor does the one in Florida, and they're being told by GM its on backorder).

Thoughts?

Looking at GMpartsdirect.com currently has P/N:23224747 for $398 however shows as not fitting SSV/PPV models. I used my Tahoe and it said it does not fit but if I change to a 2013 LS-fits. If you look at the fitment for that part-says it will fit 2007-2014 Hybrid, LS, LT, LTZ models. I would be interested in replacing my SSV's dash as well-anyone know what the significant difference is BTW the SSV and LS/LT/LTZ???

I just went through this exact same thing except my truck is a 2008 Silverado that I did an interior swap to make it a LTZ which is the same as a Tahoe. It was an LT interior previously which looks completely different when in a Silverado. The donor vehicle that I bought the dash from was a 2008 Tahoe LT. that dash is now cracked so I went to buy a new dash for a 2008 Tahoe and one site would show 19331336 and another would show 23224747. I can't use my VIN obviously. So I did the exact same thing as you- ordered the 19331336 from www.GMpartsnow.com for the 50%off shipping. I asked for availability and was told it's on national backorder with no anticipated date. Then I started looking into availability and differences in the 23224747 and realized I had gone through this issue way back when. I called and gmpartsnow changed my order to the 23224747 and It will be here Monday. I'm positive it will fit. See the page in my build thread (link at the bottom) for more info and specifically look at post #2678 for a link to additional info. I believe the 23224747 is the updated part that's had a design change to make it less prone to cracking, with reinforcement in the crack-prone areas. GM has no information on this that I can find though, but find it interesting that the 19331336 has no date for availability.

No difference, the PPV doesn't have a special dash. There's only a few parts differences for the PPV's (brakes, suspension etc} and the dash isn't one of them AFAIK. I've never seen a special dash part number.

I think the difference is the LTZ have a center speaker, while all others do not have one. Even the LTZ Silverado does not have a center speaker.

I had Rene @915_Tahoe look up both those p/n's and neither have the center speaker. I looked and all trim levels use the same dash. I believe it's Yukon's that have the center speaker but I'm not sure. Any of you guys have a NNBS Tahoe with center speaker?

I just looked at the dash for yours and GMpartsnow let’s me choose the LTZ trim but when I look at the parts list, it only shows 23224747 in ebony and states “except LTZ” and one of my other parts lookup sites, gmpartsgiant, doesn’t let you choose trim levels but it shows 2 different part numbers in black not Ebony even though the black interior IS Ebony and guess what? It’s 19331336 but also 19331331 depending on RPO’s. The 19331331 must be center speaker. Confusing. And we all know the 19331336 isn’t available. Nothing on that website about 23224747.

Well I don't think that's right (about the center speaker). My 07 LTZ does not have a center speaker and if you look at the exploded parts diagram I posted above, the same on gmpartsnow used, it doesn't show a center speaker either.

Hope your new dash shows up today because if its correct for an ebony LTZ Tahoe I will change my order today. I'm going on 4 weeks of waiting for my dash and of course they charged my cc the day I ordered it. Post a pic or two if you wouldn't mind. It would be great to get verified pics of both dashes so we can figure out why there are two different PNs.

It's coming FedEx so of course it won't be on time. FedEx is NEVER on time for me. I just checked and sure enough- it says "Shipping exception- emergency- Delay in transit". Whatever that means. i know it won't be delivered today, hopefully they didn't destroy it.

Well the cold temps finally got it. My 2012 Tahoe has had a small crack in the dash by the passenger air bag for the past few yrs.But now one formed on driver side behind the tach.
Is there any way to repair this without getting a complete dash? A patch job would work if it didnt look too bad.
I just went online and found an overlay cover for like $120. It’s not perfect and the texture doesn’t quite match but it works for me. Better than seeing those ugly cracks.
