i just got my 2007 Tahoe recently and everything runs smooth but i wanna start doing custom work, i wanna start by installing a custom retro style steering wheel, i wanna delete the driver steering wheel air bag and the passenger airbag out of the dash, my main question is can i remove it without causing any major problems and will the engine start normally? i know on more recent models of cars they wont start at all if the airbags are out so idk if the 2007 Tahoe falls within that, i wanna be extra sure before i take them out, I'm use to working on my older type cars so this is the newest model I've over owned

should be fine. Maybe best to pull the fuse in advance.. Instructions at charm.li.

Hopefully your new steering wheel is centered, unlike the stock one..

airbags won't stop anything you will just have a stupid light on the cluster, the only reason any newer vehicle would not start is if it was in a accident and the airbags were deployed in which case the fuel pump is cutoff and in that case a ecu reset is needed, but the airbags alone being disconnected would not cause a no-start, "maybe" on some particular vehicles I would guess nothing american

one more question, would it cause harm if i left the cruse control buttons unhooked, i dont use it and the cruise control is apart of the original wheel and will likely get in the way of the new wheel so i wanna just leave them off

that shouldn't make any difference, those are momentary buttons it won't know if they are connected or not

Uhhhh, how do you center it without moving the steering column?

What I meant was, the stock wheel is offset from center. If you spin it around, it's lopsided.
I have a '94 BMW econo-hatch like this.. a round wheel made it feel proper.

Not saying it will matter in our trucks, but I'm curious if rocket 77 will notice any difference... (assuming his new wheel is centered)

I never noticed that on my 2010. I thought you were talking about the wheel being angled out a few degrees from parallel.

I removed my airbags and the biggest problem I’m seeing is the stupid “Service Airbag” message constantly in my display. It prevents seeing the mileage.

I'm surprised not to read that there's some law(s) against it. Maybe there's still hope for us after all. I might not tell the insurance company, though.
