Not terrible. Lay the gasket you planned on using and let’s see the overhang. What bore are you planning on having?

My actual bore size is 4in
the gasket bore size is 4.1in

the head bore size is 4.1in
I had planned to keep it tight, but i wanted aluminum to touch 100% of the gasket surface.
on the one head i ended up with a tiny bit of overhang into the combustion chamber.
it's not terrible.
I can do another check and maybe a picture, but as of right now i'm really planning to not touch the gasket again until i'm ready to install the heads.

What fuel pump are you guys using?

I just got a prime day fuel transfer pump ordered, leaning towards dropping that tank while i'm at it.
new fuel pump and this hoe should be fully sorted once it's back together.

I also kind of want to cut a little access hole, then make a fancy hatch for it.
I have rivnuts, and a skilled welder available.

Not like i'm planning to part ways with this thing anytime in the near future.

I almost went straight for this route. But, I have a lift and found I can have the tank dropped in half an hour. It needs to come down again.

That's my worry, if i could get to it easily life would be better in the long run.
my vette has an access hatch, super easy.
I love it.

In the end, I'll probably do it the hard way and then say fk it when it comes to taking apart the interior.

Mine was original and the pump itself was still working fine except for it sputtering at 1/4 tank or less. I thought the bucket wasn't staying filled, but found after I replaced the assembly that the level sensor was faulty. I was actually nearly out of gas when I thought it had ~1/4 tank.

It lasted over 13 years and 200K miles. In theory, a new OEM one (with upgrades) should serve just as well. Lift or not, I could handle dropping a tank once a decade versus potentially opening up a can of worms with slicing up the cargo floor.

Why do you need to drop the tank again?

Why do you need to drop the tank again?

Not venting and having to trickle fuel in. It's worse than ever.

To recap:

Had slow fill issue > Found carbon pellets > Replaced cannister and vent valve and dropped tank to clean pipes

Slow fill issue resolved > Intermittently got "Tighten Gas Cap" message (new OEM cap did not resolve) > Had sputtering with low fuel level

Dropped tank again to replace fuel pump > Found vent pipe disconnected from pump bulkhead > Made sure all pipes were fully secured in place

Sputtering when low on fuel resolved > Slow fill issue returned, but worse

So, after that first time of dropping the tank to clear the system, I thought I had fixed the venting issue. Turns out, I just didn't lock the vent pipe in place and it popped off. So, either there's still a clog somewhere or the vent valve isn't working. If the PCM could detect this, it should have a code for it. But, that, and all the other EVAP codes might be turned off in the tune. I guess, instead of dropping the tank, I could just pop the hose off the valve and see if it lets me fill up.

Did you make sure the large vent line at the top rear of the tank went over the crossmember/upper strap???

I ask because if it isn't routed properly it will be pinched in-between the tank and the "upper strap" and it will cause this issue.

So I'm watching the first few minutes of this video and noticed the picture on the wall. That's the Crystal Mill, just this side of Crystal, Colorado, along a 4x4 road (kind of a famous picture, lots of people have one version or another). I took that drive in June 2013 in my old '94 Exploder and it was a rough but very beautiful drive along the Crystal River, east of Marble, Colorado. If you ever get the chance, do it! I need to do it in the Hoe.

Here's one of the pics I took:

Yeah…don’t start doing shit like that…ever watch Fear Your Neighbor on ID? What you’re talking about is exactly how most of those documentaries start and they end up with someone that nobody thought would ever kill another person doing exactly that to their neighbor. There’s something about feeling trapped in a corner because they just can’t or won’t up and sell their most valued possession and move away. Tread lightly. Best to ignore rather than antagonize. I mean, you’re not in a relationship with this guy, he’s a neighbor.

A Very good point.
I'm now doing what i should have done 9 years ago, call the police when he acts up.
I record everything to cover my ass with this guy...

Wife and i have been talking about going to church just so we can defend our selves against this guy.

My main thoughts are as a defense.
I never know when I'm going to run into one of this guys "friends".

Otherwise, i just keep letting him win.
Right now, he knows i need to mow my lawn.
Victim card because i stood up to him once, then proceeded to bungee cord my push mower to sit there and run next to his yard as i went inside.
:D
*sigh*

Wife wants to move.
I sorta do, but only because of this ******.
And he only borders a small part of my yard!

My life.

Now that you mention it, I wanna say I did because I recall feeding it over that cross member when dropping the tank. But, that might have been during the first drop and I maybe I didn't route it properly when reinstalling it that time or the second time.

I'll check it out! It'd be great to have an easy fix and I'd welcome the dope slap.
