What a day! Took me the entire day to remove a few bolts, get the engine out, get the new trans cooler lines in, and drop the new engine block in. Unfortunately, I was tired and rushing a bit so I nicked my paint a bit with the jack handle :-/.

I hope the Truck runs right. Hindsight being 20/20, I don't think I'd do this again lol. It's so much work by yourself. I really underestimated how much time it takes just to get the engine out. Tearing apart the topend is the easy part for sure.

After all this, the truck is gonna need a lot of TLC. Full paint polish and some regular fluid film on the undercarriage. You can tell I am in the northeast lol.

Thank you, I will make something work. The pressure plate bolts were on TIGHT, I had to put my flywheel lock tool which only gives you a little room and use a regular box wrench. Busted my knuckle pretty ******* one of the pulls.

I got this years ago on a kickstarter or something like that. Pretty useful...but not after the fact.

Gonna put the kid to bed tonight early and head out there and work at night. I've got a nice weekend of 60 degree weather to finish this, then it's frozen tundra next week.

I want to at least get the bellhousing completely on tonight, so the rest is just assembly of the topend which is easy, just busy work essentially.

Ok well I'm never doing my hood by myself again.

******* scratched up the both my fenders, the underside of the hood and more damage on the plastic cowl cover. And on top of that, it won't close. Frustrated because my fenders were in great shape paint wise. Guess I'll pony up for a full front end respray.

Yup stupid. Not sure why I even attempted to do it myself, very dumb.

Once I straighten out the engine, I'll just pay to have it all repainted nice. Sucks but ya live and learn I guess right.

Ack. I disconnected the springs and the strut then used a ratchet strap to pull it up to my ceiling. Lucked out that it raised right between floor trusses.

When I went to lower my truck back down I did forget to untie it. Some scary noises reminded me. Doesn't seem to have damaged it.

Worked on the truck more tonight, made good progress going into tomorrow.

-Got the bellhousing snugged up. Was a little nervous at first because it was binding and not pulling all the way in, but it was because I just had to loosen my trans mount. I had a little debacle earlier thinking it was smart to take the transmount off to try to separate from the engine easier, but all that did was pull the rear driveshaft almost all the way out LOL. That was fun getting that back in. Had to use ratchet straps.

-Routed all the wiring.

I'm gonna wake up early and get to work on it. Has to run by Sunday.

Paint/body damage SUCKS. I did everything by myself EXCEPT for the hood removal and re-installation. My back knows better!

Another marathon today.

Got everything bolted up except the exhaust and starter. First start tomorrow.

No surprises today....

Bolting up the torque converter was easy. All 6 bolts lined up perfectly with my PRW flexplate. I also had exactly the space I needed and no shims were necessary. I could not fit a 3/16 drill bit in so i called it good.

Only annoying part was torquing it. I used a box wrench and then found one area that worked with a swivel on the torque wrench. Also did red loctite. I figure if I ever have to remove them, i can get a torch in there pretty easily.

Got all the new trans/oil cooler lines hooked up too. Looks so much better when theyre new.

Sprayed fluid film all over the under carriage as well.

Waking up early tomorrow and hooking my exhaust up then its crank and pray time!

Before I decided to do this, I had the credit card out for the magnuson. Hopefully I don't regret that!

Total cost is probably more for the 6.2 right now when you factor in all the odds and ends I bought, though I will recoup some after selling my engine.

I felt like 6.2 N/A would be better suited for my driving style, which is a lot of low rpm part throttle. One thing I hated about the 5.3 is you had to rev the shit out of it to move.
