Digging through my phone and found some pics...

This is the switch I plan to use for my exhaust volume control. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it'll blend in with the rest of the dash. The color of the plastic is a near-perfect match and the bevel on the surround is more squared instead of the usual bulbous rounded edge:

I'll make up a filler panel to mock the headlight switch panel, but I'll see if starting off with a 4WD switch panel would be easier. I think if the arrows were a bit thinner/less bold, it'd look like a factory switch. Unfortunately, it's not lighted. I'll have it centered like so:

Just because I like the clean metal bits:

How she been treating you?

I put my stuff on hold until Casey gets healed up. I figured out that what I thought was lazy lifter trying to pump up, is actually and exhaust leak. I can't find the damn thing, and none of the bolts are broken. Its on the driver side. I'm hopeful its between the manifold and y-pipe. I ordered ARP manifold bolts and all the gaskets, just in case.

Been doin great! No ticking at startup, still running strong, and still loud! lol

At the moment, I'm questioning my fuel trims and calculated (no actual sensor) alcohol content. Gonna reset them somehow and see what happens. This and some trans tweaking has lead me to looking at HP Tuners, but that ain't gonna happen any time soon.

Been busy with work and more important projects so the exhaust revamp is still on hold.

Did you order your other parts- cam, lifters, etc.?

Awesome, great to hear!

I have HP tuners. I bought it back in 2011 when I did the ls swap on the 74. Its a great tool to have. I haven't gotten very good at "tuning" with it, but the basic shit (reset fuel trims, turn off DOD, adjust shift points and torque management) you can do has been great.

Yes, I have everything (cam, lifters, springs, H3 mounts, water pump, oil pump, timing set, all the bolts and gaskets, gears, dod delete valley cover, oxygen sensors, plugs, belts, hoses, the bolt to plug off the bypass thing, stall, etc), I'm just need to buy the transmission rebuild parts and a few more hoses, I think. The truck has been sitting for almost 2 months and I decided Id rather drive it to work (100 mile round trip daily) than the 355k mile s10. So, I started investigation the noise. Hopefully I can get the exhaust leak fixed and drive it until I can get some help getting the thing apart , and that ticking lifter doesn't fail, lol.

Your build thread gave me all the part numbers I needed, lol

I'm glad my documenting efforts weren't in vain!

I have an 08 ** as well. How do you like those headers so far?

No complaints! I can't speak for any specific power gains since I did a cam and other mods during the time I installed them. After seeing the factory LT4 (wet sump) manifolds, I'd have to say there is proof to the tri-y design. I can say that they're not as "noisy" as most other headers I've heard. They're fairly thick gauge steel (14g, I believe) and ceramic coated. Supposed to have three coats on the inside and four or five on the outside. Longtubes tend to "ping" at the collectors, and thinner gauge and/or uncoated steel makes this louder. These don't have that pinging, maybe the tri-Y design helps to reduce this as well. The build quality is great and they bolted right up with no fitment problems. Flanges are thick and flat. The Y-pipe doesn't appear to be ceramic coated and fitting it required some modification, as I outlined here. Other than that, just know that cats are effective mufflers and without them, you'll hear it!

Yesterday, I removed the core from the port on the fuel rail, slipped a piece of 3/8" (or smaller?) fuel hose over it and turned the key on for about half a second to collect a test sample to see what my alcohol content was. My scan tool showed it to be 22-23%, but the tester shows it to be at least 85% but looks a little higher. So, I don't know what is making the Tahoe calculate it so low. I filled up with 93 at Texaco (pretty sure it's E10, but may be E0). After about 15 or so miles, I'm showing a calculated alcohol content of 3%. I don't know...

Also, my Long Term Fuel Trims are now about where they should be. Before, they were reading something like +14 and +9 (Banks 1 and 2 respectively) or maybe it was 9 and 14. Anyway, they're now around -3 and -4 and upwards of 0.
