Uh, that is teflon tape, and would work, but there isn't much room in this case. The stuff I was talking about comes in a small squeeze tube like locktite and it's like a white paste

I would use the sealant, not the tape. The tape can have strings come off and have had that cause problems getting into stuff in equipment. I have almost outlawed the use of Teflon tape on equipment we build.

Yes, it should be available at auto parts stores and even Home Depot. I have a big tube of it from ARP that I got for when I installed head studs on one of my motors that go into the water jackets in the block (Ford 302).

I also use it on my air compressor line fittings and quick connects on my air tools

Not much, if any should come out unless you overfilled it to begin with. Does your cover have a drain and fill plug? You could always drain a bit beforehand then put it back in.

I had pretty much the same thing happen to the support cap bolts on one of my mustangs about a month after I installed the support cover. The aluminum was slightly wet around where the bolt goes through and I thought "damn, I forgot to seal those bolts before installing them." I basically backed them out as far as I could (you can't remove them, because the big, flat, pivot head won't fit through the hole), and applied the teflon thread sealant to the threads, then screwed them back into position. Been fine for years...lol

Fluid level should be below those bolts.

Was 28 here in houston this morning... But we get those days where you run the heater in the truck in the morning, ac in the afternoon... The humidity makes these temps feel way worse than they are... 90s here is 90% humidity, and you cut the air with a knife... 80s still isnt pleasant most days...

I guess I'm a firm believer in there is a limit to what I will take off, but I can always add more clothes...
My saying is theres only so much clothes I can take off till somebody calls the cops...

Got my Blackstone Labs report back today.

Blackstone Labs requested I take an oil sample at the 6k mile mark on this oil change so we can see how the lead looks since they don't have any data on our 5.3 liters running 13k-15k mile OCIs.

I took the sample and sent it to them and received the new report today.

Rust belt is that you?

Looks much better now:

Another note, I had to go to the ER today when trying to change the serp belt on this truck. The RPO list shows a 105A alternator. Apparently the previous owner installed a 130A alternator. Idiot me didn’t realize this while I had the belt tensioner maxed out. The ratchet got loose and whipped back and struck me in the forehead. Needless to say, I was dizzy and saw birds flying around. Thank God I didn’t get a brain bleed. Moral of the story: if different belt sizes are spec’d, it must be the other one if the new one doesn’t fit!

Glad your ok.

Getting thwapped on the head is not fun at all. That being said, I was using a prybar one time and really had the coals put to it when it slipped out of my hand and got be right between the eyes. About knocked me out. The funny thing was my sinuses started draining like crazy. My sinuses were never that clear ever. I swear I could smell wild flowers 10 miles away!
