What I usually do, but since the computer that had the files got waterlogged in the flood last year (was in my garage), I now don't have said files. And it kinda sucks to only be able to have enough for a few files. Stock ecm, stock tcm, 87 oct, and sport tcm is all that's on there. No room for more. I keep stock on there at all times in case I need to switch it back for inspection or maintenance work.

I dunno, I just feel like it should have a little more room for file storage, that's all.
you won't pass inspection if you have a modified tune on your Tahoe? :hmm:

Pricewatch has been around for a long long time, it's a good reference site to either compare prices or shop from, great deals!

This! ^^^ Been using it since the 1990s.

I store the tunes on the PC which has it's own back up, two Raid-1 arrays, and also to Carbonite.

California does not check for a tune, all they care about is if the CEL is lit up or not, they plug into the odb and check for codes if there is none and you have cat's installed then you are done, you could be on 3 wheels and a skateboard they could care less it's kind of funny

This. Any data that’s not ok to lose should be properly backed up. In general terms, to me that means that it will be saved in multiple (physical) locations. Adding RAID of -almost- any level is additional security of that data. (Forget RAID 0 (stripe) as it has nothing to do with providing data redundancy.

That's what i thought but it through me off why Phil needed the stock tune for inspection. Unless your ride is still under warranty there is no need for a stock tune at all as far as I know.

I don't have catalytic converters so maybe that's why. I remember my old mechanic would have me switch it back to stock before he inspected it. Maybe that's why [emoji1745]. I used to switch from 87 oct tune(better gas mpg) and performance tune(93oct) during the summer/winter months. Plus I had the towing tune saved on the PC.

I get the point of having it saved on the PC, I just don't see why it can't hold a few more tunes that's all.

Anyways, carry on.

I checked the dipstick today if that makes everyone feel any better. I was a little low so I added 1 qt of mobil 1 synthetic.

Probably doesn’t have more room because it’s intended as a transfer device, not a storage device. But the same could have happened if all your files were on the autocal and it was what got wet in the flood. BTW, did you contact Blackbear to see if they have copies? I had them send me one of mine that got corrupted, so they obviously had a copy of it. It was only a couple months old though so I don’t know how long they keep them for.

Haven't contacted them yet. Just kept it in 87oct to save mpg, it's not like I can really go fast anyways [emoji23].

They had my files a when they changed their file stuff(not sure what to call it), but it's been years since I've contacted them. Doubt they have them at this point. It probably wouldn't hurt to take new data and get new files anyways.

Are these new? Just heard them advertised over the radio while listening to Rush.
ya, mine came in last night but it is raining like crazy might get it put in later today or tomorrow, tore the bag open doesn't really smell like anything but my sniffer isn't all that great, maybe with some air blowing thru it, either that or it just absorbs odors?

This was actually this past weekend, but took it on an 8-hour trip to northern Alabama for a cousin's high school graduation. Since my wheels and tires aren't balanced so well, they vibrated at 75-85 MPH, my normal cruising speed. I just laid back and set the cruise at 70 for about 98% of the drive and averaged 18MPG. I've never seen my fuel range this high.

First fill-up after drive up and some running around town:

...And the next fill-up during drive home:

Since it was easy highway cruising, I went with 89 instead of 93.

I don't know if I posted this already. It's just a pic of how it looked in the daylight during the first trip out since mounting up the de-clads and swapping the handles:

Ugh. Still have so far to go. Lose the chrome mirror caps and grille, slam it, paint the wheels, maybe clear reflectors in headlights...

no they do an inspection of the filler neck and cap as well to make sure it's not flapping around in the wind
it's pretty clear these shops are not doing their job..

they only probe pre 2000 cars (1999 and before)

I have done better 686 mile club 28MPG @58mph w/CC
686Miles range possible with 24.5 gallon tank

20-22 is typical in my city
