I'm having problems with the vvt I think on my 07 escalade. Code P0011. what parts could be bad? Should I start replacing vvt parts and hope they won't go bad again or just delete it all and put a decent cam in?

there was just a post a few weeks ago about someone replacing a few parts without having to tear to much into the engine :http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/p0011-code-and-plan-of-attack.100414/

where as cam swap is quite an undertaking, plan on spending about 1500 plus tuning, but enjoy the added performance and knowing the afm is all gone

Hmm. I searched and that thread didn't come up. Doesn't really help me with troubleshooting except that I need a tech 2. Can you command the vvt to move without buying a subscription?

That code Lance is for the CMP or Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid. Old oil, additives in the oil, wrong viscosity, etc. can contribute to this code being thrown. Remember, you do not need a subscription to use your Tech2, only to program modules. You can hook up the Tech2 and command the actuator to 25 degrees and see if it can meet that. Did you sign up for the AllDataDIY subscription yet?

It would be less expensive and quicker in the short term to repair it.

IDK, I've done yearly and 3 for the last 12 years on various cars. Probably cause they want to make more money for a subscription after three years to keep their wallets happy.

They sell a vvt phaser lock that supposed to give some more HP by locking the phaser in Place. I changed mine and it wasn't a fun job had to remove a bunch of stuff.

Looks like it's definitely broke. Got my Tech 2 in the mail today and this is what I found. 20180320_174800.jpg
