Would this be a good fan upgrade 2013 Yukon xl

Looking to see if this would be a good fan upgrade for a 2013 Yukon XL Denali. It does not have the K5L option. Just has the 5/7 fan blades. I notice the Yukon gets hot going up long hill grades when loaded or towing.

You can get used ones on eBay for half that cost. I bought a set of 700w 9/7 and also 700w 5/5. For me, the 9/7 seemed to help my idle AC performance more which was my goal here in Texas. I can’t comment on the towing performance comparison. 15780789 in the search pulls up both types.

KL5 700 Watt Fan Conversion - 1 or both?

For those who have upgraded to the 700w radiator fans, where are you buying them? Are you buying both or just the driver side? I have heard that if you run both, the electrical system has a hard time keeping up unless you upgrade that. Does it matter how many blades the fan is? I have a 2013...

I think @Geotrash did one motor and has an upgraded trans cooler and is pleased with tow performance.

When 1 factory motor costs as much as that whole assembly, there's no way I would trust my life to that.

How many miles on the radiator that’s in it? They get partially blocked over time even when well maintained. And is the factory transmission cooler still in place or has someone installed a larger one in front of the radiator?

that tyc might actually be a downgrade from oem....
if you have rpo code k5l then you already have the enhanced cooling radiator and 700w fans
i upgraded mine to k5l and I can still make mine get hot, not even towing usually in the hot part of summer only though, you could try a mishimoto or coldcase radiator.
just be aware they can be hit-n-miss on if they develop leaks or not, seems to be about 50/50

If you are going to upgrade it then I would use OEM, Every seller on eBay selling used ones seem to say there's are k5l but I would verify the option with the seller, new OEM will be excessive cost. Mine came out of a 07 hummer h2 7/9 blade, put new motors in it in 2017 and have had to unfortunately replace both motors. One went 3 years and one went 5. I still wouldn't use aftermarket, I'm just rough on mine

It might've been another issue though.

well mine did have 160amp oem already, I have upgraded mine for the audio system and 2nd battery.
never had any issue's with lights dimming myself

Not been a problem for us. All three have 700 watt fans and the pickups run 145 amp alternators. Only time I've experienced flickering was when the battery was discharged or on it's way out.

Denali has the Mac Daddy cooling system for its 6.2L. If the radiator has no history, replace it simply due to its age. All radiators are prone to collecting the equivalent of brake dust on the interior and exterior surfaces. When it starts, it grows like barnacles on a whale.

Start with a flush and Rad replacement, OEM only, they have a lifetime guarantee now. If you want to know if it was part of the problem, weigh the new and old one after it’s dried out in the sun for a week. If it’s significantly heavier, that’s not good.

Replace the coolant reservoir too. Our 08 Denali would overheat at idle on 100* days with the a/c on waiting for the kids to come out from school. In the months following we found both the Rad and Exp tank had cracks that wept and caused pressure loss which led to the overheat.
