What do you consider normal oil pressure?

09 L76, I don't think I've ever seen 40 at idle. It's usually 20 at idle, 40 or a bit below cruising on the highway like the above poster.

I changed my oil yesterday and was checking it out. I noticed normal easy driving it's around 50 but above about 3000 rpm it's 60. And no lower than 40 at idle. 168,000 miles. I wonder if the NBS are different than the NNBS.

I agree, there is something different. This pic is from my 04 yukon, lots of miles on it and better psi.

My 2005 tahoe has 40psi at idle. Those that have lower pressure could have a broken o-ring on the oil pickup tube. Or less likely, oil pressure regulator with a weak spring, worn oil pump gears or worn main bearings.

All oil filters have a bypass valve, so that if the filter gets clogged engine oil bypasses the filter. So even a dirty filter will not cause low oil pressure.

from the gauge, anything between 20-60 should be fine. Lower when engine not being used as hard and on the higher end when going hard. The question is what do you do when it goes below the 20 or above the 60?
