looking good Sun... what did they run you cost wise?? Headers and the coating?

I was fortunate for them to pop up on ebay $400 for the entire kit. this is a 4wd kit shown.

ordered while resting in columbus, oh., delivered day after arriving in okc.
the coating process was done by sanderson headers in ssf, ca. for $220 and about a weeks+ wait. the factory offered ceramic coating as an option back when these were in mass production but it included the crossover pipes:

so now i am debating having those done too now. about $30 for every foot of individual pipe. so far just the headers have been done.

at today's prices if still sold in large quantity the ceramic system would be around $700+ but thorley is not likely to make any unless they get an order for 30+ sets at once.

assembled they will look like the last page of http://www.dougthorleyheaders.com/product.downloads/THY-301Y-FED_INST.pdf

wen i decide on whether or not to get the the y-pipes coated or not and then when i have an extra $150 on hand.

It depends on the manufacturer, usually the cheap ones do that, the better ones have a flange that is machined like that, the really cheap ones do neither.
doug thorley has some that are built up and some that are machined flat. it was application dependent for them.

New cap, rotor, plugs and Accel 300+ custom fit (you build them) wires. They are $99.99 at Summit and Jegs and $59.99 at Autozone for anyone else looking for new wires ... :D

Put in 20 bucks worth of 93 Octane. Gonna drive the piss out of it and try to clean out the fuel system good. Already chased down a V6 mustang on my way home from the gas station. Nothing like seeing someone run a stop sign to get away.

high octane will not automatically clean out you system or give you more power. your pcm must be programmed to allow for a greater spark advance. and to clean the system you really need to used the cleaner i specified before. and weather they are in trouble with the law that they feel they need to run from the law or not, DO NOT EVER instigate someone to run a stop sign and/or chase someone down. you just contributed to possibly causing an incident and harm to others. that was a real stupid thing to do. you could have been hurt yourself in an incident yourself.

Like sunlit said, high octane won't help clean out the engine, a good fuel system cleaner will do better, I like seafoam. And driving the piss out of it won't do any good either, short bursts of acceleration will actually have the opposite effect, as far as cleaning carbon deposits is concerned. What you need to do is get the engine hot over a sustained period, like driving hard up a mountain pass, or even just a good long drive.

Chasing cars and making them break the law us never a good idea, there's reasons there are laws forbidding it. But sometimes, every guy with red blood in his veins has a need to needlessly burn lots of hydrocarbons for no good reason. :D just be smart about it.
