An update to a GMC grill from a 96 that i found in the far north of the North Island on a country wide trade app.
Repaired and painted this grill and is possibly closer to factory grill.

A couple months ago I repaired my rear view mirror knocked loose during heat/ac control replacement. Well, that was strong glue as it took a piece of the windshield off. Maybe I should have tried to remove the disc thing I was asking about. My track record of never repairing one correctly continues.

That's some good glue.

Air Conditioning service this morning with a Snap-on Polartek unit. I'm injecting some dye, as it seems I have a slow leak somewhere.

I need to do this as well. I’m getting my transmission cooler lines replaced tomorrow due to leaks. The one good thing about the various leaks this rig has had over the years is that the front end isn’t bad to work on as the various oils provided a pretty good under coating. Far less rust than the rear end :)

The one benefit to having oil leaks--in Jersey.

New starting issue. 3 times in past 2 months I got to start the truck and it just clicks. No attempt to start at all. Repeated key turns repeat in a single click. The first time I waited a while I got my tools tightened cables etc and no change. About an hour later when it went back for a jump, even though power seemed fine battery is about a year old, it started right up as normal before I popped the hood. 2nd time sane scenario in about 5-10 minutes, as I sat a contemplated my life and life choices, started right up no problem. This last time the same scenario, I shifted the gear stick back and forth and it started right up no problems. I’m thinking starter but any other thoughts. My wiper stalk with cruise and wiper speed is wonky if that makes a difference.

What @j91z28d1 said. I would still remove the cables at battery and check for corrosion and make sure is tight. Another source of problem could be ignition switch but does not sound like it. How old is the starter. You do live in a salt on roads state, correct?

if it clicks it's most likely the starter. back in the day when they clicked you have a buddy hold the key in start and smack it with a hammer. if it starts it's time die a starter.
I’ve been through that

Starter is about 10 years old and I do live in a salt state. At the time the starter was replaced so was the flywheel solving a pervious starter problem where they would burn out in short fashion due to flat spots on the flywheel.

10 years is a heck of a run for a replacement starter these days.
The autozone told me this is your last warranty exchange (I burned through 2 in less than 6 months) when I finally got the flywheel replaced at same time. I hope that shop is still around. Took it there thinking I wasn’t installing the starters properly and they diagnosed the flywheel problem.

Any "decent" shop should always roll the flex plate to inspect the teeth, when doing the starter replacement or even if removing the starter for room.

I will let you know all shops aren’t decent :( and in this case he’s a trusted mechanic in my book at this point. The same reason someone might hope you still turn wrenches :) is why I’m hoping this shop is as well. He was an owner operator 10 years ago and was closer to retirement than I at the time.
