They're predicting rain this week. So I figured it's a good time to address my roof leak. I put a bead of silicone around the harness boot, which is where I suspect the leak is.

For anyone who wants to do this, you need to pop the white plastic piece out after removing the boot, and reinsert it into the boot. Then you put silicone around the face of the boot that presses against the metal, and snap the whole thing back into place. I didn't do it this way on my first attempt, and have black fingers to show for it, lol.

I’m only 39. Again.

My hound is actually a Bernese Mountain dog. I’ve had Aussies before, and also smart dogs.

There are a couple of Aussies in the group now. One is a tricolor. The Aussie is a big one. My Berner is small, only 110#.
My friend has Mountain Dogs as well. Did you assume I thought it was as Aussie, or were you saying that the breed isn’t as smart as an Aussie? Personally, I’d say they may not learn as quickly, but they are still sharp.

I turned 35 last November and will be 50 years young this year. Grey is gold in the world of white. Some of us never had the luxury of the “in-between” colors. Others aren’t even lucky enough to have hair that turned color, while some of them are in between.
Big and small are relative. Here's our tri-color mini Aussie with a breed-inappropriate summer groom. "Stella" weighing in at just under 18 lbs.
I was today years old when I learned they breed mini-Aussies. That is a very inappropriate groom considering the summer heat.

I was also today years old when I realized one of the Brembo plants is about an hour away from me. Brembo and American Axle so close. Win win!
Yeah I had a windshield cover. It was tactically acquired by a buddy. I took the flag off his mailbox, and it's been a Mexican standoff for a couple months.

Upstate. I live in Landrum and work in Greenville. I-85 is brutal.
That’s a nice build. Any issues with vibration mounting it in that location?

Check these guys out for some ideas. I have a couple of their products for my tractor cab.

Quiet you! @Doubeleive and I are on that list. I’m hoping it won’t look as bad as either of yours. I bet he is hoping the same thing.
Yours looked like it was fed a fist full of ball bearings in addition to some used diff fluid.

not exactly gmt900 but installed my first of the new Optima orange top lithium batterys in a unit at work that has a glitch in it somewhere that randomly kills it's battery completely dead every now and then. could be a few day, could he months. the best theory is can bus issues when the manufacturer had to switch from 24v system to 12v because we wanted a gas engine for some reason. doesn't shut down correctly and something says on.

anyways, good test bed for how these new lithiums hold up. so far it's amazingly light weight, feels like an empty plastic case. ran a load test just for the heck of it. got 1256cca. even has a phone app to Bluetooth connect, give you readings like voltage, state of charge and any fault codes. put it in jump start mode without even popping the hood. good for guys that park their. vehicles a long with without a tender.

pretty fancy but for 850$. I guess they should be.Img_2025_08_10_21_55_18.jpegImg_2025_08_10_22_25_58.jpeg

I did ass-u-me. I get a fair amount of people who assume she’s an Aussie. She is the best dog I have ever had. I’ve had Aussies too.

I've had it back a few days now I am certain the last ring/pinion job was done half-ass feels a lot smoother now not 100% better but 90% better used to vibrate a little starting at about 85, now there is no vibration per sey I can hear a slight hum at 85. Might need to have the transfer case output shaft changed, did everything else., don't really have the money to spend on it right now. Might go get a estimate anyway though.

It does vibrate a little. But I think more than half of it is the cradle. I plan to remove the little rubber bristle pads that clamp my phone and replace them with solid.

Today I was preparing for what I thought would be a more complicated job than it ended up being. If your seat height adjustor appears seized aka it clicks but no movement, it very much might be the case (especially if it's stuck in the bottomed out position).

So before grabbing the multimeter, ordering replacement gears or disassembling anything try this simple trick first. Scoot the seat all the way forward, find this adjustor screw and lightly tap the end of it with a hammer while working the buttons erratically.

After my first long drive, I have to say I'm really pleased with the mount. I managed to squeeze down on the arms with enough ugga-duggas that the phone pretty much doesn't move at all, unless I'm driving over RR tracks. Part of my euphoria was that I wasn't used to having a view of the map always available in my peripheral vision. But I'd also added a new Bluetooth transceiver that plugs into the AUX port on the head unit. No more transmitting media via FM radio. Much better sound quality. It feels like a new truck, ha ha.

On that note, I need to clean up the wiring a bit. Does anyone know of a micro cig lighter USB charger that includes an on/off switch? The lighters stay powered with the ignition off, so I have to physically unplug my USB adapter every time I shut down, which is kinda annoying. All the ones I've found are either huge, unswitched, or intended to replace the lighter altogether by hardwiring into the dash. Actually, that last option is a possibility. Can anyone confirm one of those (like link below) will fit in the existing holes?

If you need to fix something quickly and already have it on hand, silicone is serviceable, but something that's good to have around is 3M Strip Calk (yes, that's the correct spelling).
Imagine if a Tootsie Roll and a glob of grease had a baby, that's what Strip Calk is. It can be quite messy, but doesn't harden and the parts can be separated and reassembled and it'll still seal fine. Unless you're an auto body professional, one package will probably last you forever -- I've had my pack for over a dozen years and still have plenty left.

Yeah, the 3M site says "For industrial/occupational use only. Not for consumer sale or use," but I've never had any issue buying 3M "non-consumer" products from any auto body supply houses.

Believe it or not, my comment about the groom was that it's very short for a proper Aussie groom. But during the summer we keep it shorter for her comfort and in that pic it's grown out a bit. I won't post a pic of it now after I cut it even shorter on Saturday... ;)

She was the odd one in the litter; the others grew to 40-60 lbs. The family that had her breeds cattle dogs for working cattle, and she's too small for that. But she has the heart!

Is the adjuster you are tapping the height adjustment? Or are you tapping the forward/back adjuster to free the height adjustment?

It was a busy weekend. Along with everything else, I got tired of my shrinking, peeling carbon fiber wrap in the center console bin. Wrapping the walls was a mistake. A few SC summers and the vinyl had shrunk and pulled away from the inside corners. I stripped it all off and redid just the top. It looks 90% as good for 10% of the effort.

Now I just need to redo the armrest which is suffering from the same issue.

It’s just thin strips of butyl. I’ve used a larger variety for years ever since I learned auto glass in the 70’s. The big stuff is about 5/16” diameter and was used to install windshields with. Not they’re all bedded in urethane instead but the butyl rolls are still available. It’s super handy stuff.

I put new batteries in my key fob… Yes I licked them, and yes as the package states they are bitter lol..
So this is where we are at in Society folks, putting a bitter coating on batteries so little tax write offs don’t swallow them… Un-******-believable…

you'd be surprised, these button batteries are a huge problem with kids. we just didn't have anything that took them when we were growing up. sends tons of kids to the hospital and messes them up good.

orbeez and small magnets are as bad if not worse, my daughter swallowed some orbeez but luckily they were the very small ones and she never showed any ill effects, we are not even sure how she got them, I think another kid had them at school or something and gave her some in a bag.
you have to be mindful these days, that ryans-world kid on youtube with all the "slime" crap sold in stores I would pull off the store shelves if it were possible, god that stuff is complete crap and god forbid you get it on anything and/or let it dry out
