Half way tempted to yank the oil pan once more, and pop off some main bearing caps.
I'm getting pretty good at removing and reinstalling the front axle now.

the secrete appears to be tie down straps to hold the cv shafts, and the front drive shaft out of the way.

Drivers seat was in need of major overhaul. I ordered replacement OEM leather for seat and back as well and both foam cushions. All in all cost about $300 for OEM leather and $250 for the foam. ****** thing was I had to leave the seat in cause the bolt didn’t want to come out. Wasn’t to bad. After foam came out I realized the metal lumbar support piece snapped. Couldn’t find the plate itself to replace. Found the entire assembly but with 220K miles on her, wasn’t worth the $350. Over all stoked on way it came out and feels like a new seat again.

My driver seat needs some love, mostly the foam.
my Lumbar is also broken.
I can hear the motor run, but it won't adjust.

Where did you end up ordering everything from, dealer?

Yeah, another $50 oil pan gasket.
I had that pan off and back on something like 4 times now.

:D

I might as well start ordering the gaskets...

I did watch a YouTube video where they were able to slide in a new crank bearing by rolling it into place.
Sounds like a terrible idea... Hmm...

I just want to go outside, out of the house and not fix anything.
Just to my property and

Buy a Lubelocker oil pan gasket, it’s reusable. And yes you can roll new main bearings in except for the center one which is the thrust bearing so there’s that. At least I’m about 95% positive you can’t roll the thrust bearing in. I was looking into this when Performabuilt told me they suspected my thrust bearing was out of tolerance which turned out wasn’t the case.

Looks great.

When I was younger I screwed up my back up royally. It won’t tolerate any lumbar at all in my seat back.

When I get a car/truck, the first thing I do is take the back cover off, disconnect/remove any lumber adjuster and cut enough lumbar foam out such that the seat back is straight. I just went through it with my wife’s Toyota Highlander.

I am very impressed you did it in place.

Mine is the same on both seats. I never use it but would like to fix it one day. Driver seat is still in good shape but an upgrade would be nice.

Casey and I did that on a 60s F100. It lasted until he sold it. Not sure after that. I want to say we did the rods too but its been over 10 years so i'm not positive.

I purchased the OEM leather seats and foam seat pad from this seller on eBay.The seat back pad is harder to find and I got that from GMParts direct. Links are below. If anyone has any questions on installation, hit me up. Happy to help.

I can live with the gear oil smell, because it's there for a reason and serves a useful purpose. The rust doesn't and is just evil.

I was “mostly” joking about the smell. I’ll have the garbage open right in front of me peeling some oranges or something and my wife will walk by and say “shut the garbage, it smells so bad!” I’m like, “really? I can’t smell anything.” :yaoface2:

Just curious on the quality? I’ve been a bit nervous to buy anything from EBay.

The smell is there for a reason or the gear oil is? I want to know why the stuff smells so bad.

Honestly I have extremely insane OCD and the feel, quality is almost identical. Keep in mind if you used leather conditioner on previous seats they will have a slight shine to them from years of sun exposure and wear. You can see the difference in that but the quality is really good in my opinion.

That shine can be removed by using Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner in the green can. Use a small bristle brush, scrub a small area and mop it up with a clean rag then go to the next area. It makes the leather look and feel new and match up with your new stuff. It’s not something to use on a regular basis, just once every few years. I learned about it from a video on The Seat Shop.

Sulphur.

I can say, if you are like me, you don't get "used to it" with repeated exposure. I used to change gears in my Hewland between almost every race. I never got used to the smell. Kind of turns my stomach just thinking about it. :)
