Shit breaks as they say...I think the failure rate isn’t too bad imo considering how many million times out hatches get slammed every day across the country. If it was stationary glass they probably would never fail.you would think gm would solder the dam things better after making them for 20+ years
I never use the glass... In fact, I didn't even know it existed until I had the truck for over a year. You never open the hatch either? It doesn’t matter if you open the glass or the whole rear door, when you close it, it slams down and those curled up wires bounce up and down and put a lot of stress on the tabs. Then multiply that by a few thousand times. It’s not like a normal rear glass that never moves.I never use the glass... In fact, I didn't even know it existed until I had the truck for over a year. Lol

Maybe add a piece of black rubber weatherstrip under there before installing the bow tie.The gap around the bowtie and bracket.![]()

I thought about some of the thicker double sided tape. ⅛" stuff.Maybe add a piece of black rubber weatherstrip under there before installing the bow tie.

That stuff I showed is about 1/4” thick and would fill the gap and crush when you install the bow tie. I got it at Home Depot.I thought about some of the thicker double sided tape. ⅛" stuff.
Going to be taking it back off to paint the part that overlaps the upper grill black. To blend a little bit more. Going straight across a ¼" back from outer edge of top.

I got the wrong size. My dumb ass didn't test fit one first. They dont fit. But are paint matched. These were supposed to be 5mm but are more like 6.5mm, fit in 12-14mm bolt holes. That was my intention before I realized how thick the Nutsert flanges were. I may still use them since they at least look better than the original screws just put back in the holes.
