This, I just give the used oil to whatever auto parts store I'm close to. It's gonna be nice to just put it directly into the 5gal jugI have a buddy with a waste oil heater in his shop that I usually give my old oil to in the fall. I have 4 vehicles, so it's quite a bit of oil. I usually transfer from the pan back into the 5 gallon jugs using a funnel, to store this oil to give to him. These valves eliminates that step, as I can drain right into a jug.

I used my Grandads old brownie pan. It was perfect! Held 7 or so quarts but I forgot it outside after cleaning it and it rusted all to shitHahaha I always just let the filter drop in the oil. I get it out when I pour the oil back in the jug. I don't use a standard pan though, I have a low height old storage tote that I use.

I didn't see this message- I grab a box of the disposable latex free blue ones they use at medical offices and keep them in the vehicle at all times. Handy for a medical emergency and for oil changes!I don’t know, dont you guys were rubber gloves? $50!!??
These things cost $25-30, which ones are $50?.... Lol
As for the oil filter, I learned long ago on my 2001 to just punch a hole in the bottom of it and let it drain for a few minutes before removing it

filter puncture is always my go to if I'm struggling to get the filter off. I also leave the drain plug out until i have the filter off because it seems like when i get the seal broken on the filter another half quart falls out.I only looked up the one with the hose (Femco?). I put in my vehicle info and the one they showed with the 90 degree hose was $49.xx. Straight one was around $45. Didn't check out the Fumoto.
I'm a creature of habit and have just never thought to try something different when changing oil. If I can remember, I'll start punching the filter at the next oil change.

I have heard that there is a block off plate sort of above where the filter screws on that is a provision for an oil cooler but haven't had time to see if mine has one or not.
Isn't it in the other side tank of the radiator, like the trans cooler? Also what's the 411 on the factory oil coolers. I have heard that there is a block off plate sort of above where the filter screws on that is a provision for an oil cooler but haven't had time to see if mine has one or not.
i need to look. That's how it was on my S10. I don't know what GMT900s got the factory ones and what ones didn't. I know not all did- and I would like to have one.Isn't it in the other side tank of the radiator, like the trans cooler?

I think the Fumoto is around $30, the Femco might be a bit more. I punch a hole in the filter too. I just like being able to screw the drain hose on without tools and go take a break while it drains. Every time I used to pull the plug it went all over my hands with or without gloves, it likes to gush out. Then when everything is all drained, I put one pair of gloves on and replace the filter. It’s just way easier with the Femco. It might not be worth it to some but I actually enjoy changing the oil now.$50!!??
