This has just always pissed me off, now its worse with the rims..if the gas light comes on and i put in about 7 gallons, im lucky to get 100 miles off that $20 or so bucks..i know that the tahoe arnt that good in city, but still..last 20 bucks i got 115 miles, and 90 miles were cruising 55 mph...i have a new fuel filter, oil, air filter, spark plugs, FPR, seafomed, cleaned MAF etc;..also a BB tune on 93 octane..only thing left is 02 sensors..i wanted to wait and get them when i got headers since id be tuning the rears out anyway, but i guess ill get some new front 02s and go from there..i dont really know what else to do..Also ive heard you guys sayin you can spin your tires and shit..i cant even power brake it in the rain on stock tires..thats with the tune and everything..what could be messed up? its got 160k on it but doesnt burn any oil and runs great..

hold off on getting new 02's, if you get LT headers with ORY, you will do away with 02's anyway......

In the city I'm averaging 12-13. If I do more freeway then 14-15. I also recently changed the intake, and did the RP diff fluid change, so I'm hoping to see a increase.

well the front 02s will still be there, but not the rears..i wouldnt get new rears anyway..Justin said they dont effect the mpg at all, they are just there to see if the cats are working..

Besides the headers, new o2s, and a CAI, i really dont know what else i can do..it has exhaust, i baby it for the most part, never cruise over 73 on the interstate, 60 in a 55..

they just get crappy mileage...mine does 12-13 in town, about 16-17 on highway.

Found what headers you plan to go with yet?

That exactly what my '00 LT 5.3L has always gotten since new, no better, no worse.

About 14-15mpg in the city.
With it getting hotter and running your AC more, you will see a decline in gas mileage. I wouldn't have gotten a 93 octane tune. There's no reason to use that high of octane unless you have forced induction. More than likely your timing is advanced requiring a higher octane. When adding more timing, most of the time, you will use more gas in the long run.
Personally, I plan on having an economy tune done to my Tahoe. I just don't see a point in adding performance parts to a vehicle that weighs so much. Logically to me a V8 car would be a better platform to toy with. Less weight, better mileage, spend the same amount in performance parts and you will allways be faster. To each their own though.

jesus..most i ever got on 100% highway was 360 miles on a tank with stock tires and that was pushing it with the gas light on..a normal tank gets me like 260 miles..im thinkin of goin down to a 87 octane tune here soon..premium is $3 bucks where i live so its gettin expensive..

I plan on goin with LPP headers i think..$500 for the headers and ORY pipe..just bolt them on and weld them up and hook it to the stock exhaust and be good to go..

I get about an average of 20MPG due to responsible driving, K&N and Magnaflow.
My DTC reads about 426 miles to the tank, an I get on the highway every once a while but mainly city!

DDEEAAAAMMMMMM mang.... thats not good enough MPGs... you ******* the throttle? I also have a black bear 91 octane tune. I have the most aggressive tune Justin could do for a daily driver. I also have a CAI and a magnaflow muffler. I would say the rims are hurtin you but they should be hurtting you that much, i too am pushing big wheels and they are nice and wide (305's). so we are running similar setups... you have an intake setup?

I think you might want to have a look into something because you shouldnt have any trouble at all getting at LEAST 400 miles to a tank...

those mpgs were with stock tires..

i have a new MAF(OEM), new fuel filter, new plugs, cleaned TB, K&N drop in filter, Magnaflow muffler, Most aggressive BB tune, new oil etc..i baby the shit out of it..i do notice a little dark smoke on start up and possibly running a little rich, so thats what leads me to think i should replace the 02 sensors..

my tune was also done with the datalog cable so he checked everything over and it all checked out good..

I drive like a lunatic and get 330-400 out of a tank. Longtubes helped, I think you need some oxygen sensors my buddy gets 16-17mpg with almost 200k in his hoe.

thats really weird man, you should be doing quite a bit better then that with that setup... like i said, the only thing we have different is the tires... well now I have a full CAI, i think you would do a little better with an aftermarket intake tube like an airaid or something similar... but even still, something seems wrong there

A couple things come to mind. First try BP or Shell gas, also the lack of bottom end torque sounds like the torque converter may not be stalling enough. Set the e-brake and powerbrake it to full throttle for about 2 seconds and see if the rpm's jump to 1500 or so. Also see what the rpms jump to from a dead stop to WOT as the truck just starts to move. My wife's 02 tahoe jumps to like 1600rpm on take off at about 40% throttle. (I'll do a WOT soon) Also a friend of mine's hoe won't get over 850rpm before the converter reaches its flash speed. Needless to say he's probably gonna get a converter soon to help pull his boat. Plus if the converter is that messed up it may not lock up. But its hard to say saywithou won yours without seeing live data. Even the data that Justin has may not be enough because it may not have been "acting up" while that data was recording. Diagnostics can be a BIT@±.

I get like 320 per tank all highway @ 75. 4.8 mostly stock except Airaid air box. Just did a fuel injection service and decarb w/ the intake and it jumped to 360 per tank. The larger wheels kill it too.

i feel special!!!

i have done a lot of small things to the truck, not sure if they helped.

new fuel filter
new pluggs
ran two cans of seafoam through the gas tank (one before fuel filter one after)
ran one can of sea foam through the vacuum line
ran one can in the crankcase about 500 miles before an oil change
swaped oil over to royal purple 5w-30
and then obviously comes the "after market" parts.
I am also maticulous about my tire pressure, i keep 35lbs at ALL times
