Got the verticle grill for X-Mas from the Mom and Brother along with the chrome door handles for the doors and hatch. Installed the grill and I must say it looks better than the pic.....I was extremely shocked because it was something I wanted to buy myself......Figured it needed its own thread! Also got a indash flip out monitor from my bro......Anybody got a write up on removing the dash pad so i can recess the single din kit to make sure the wiring harness doesnt get chewed up by the rear metal bracket? Didnt find anything in the search function.....

You want to remove the top pad? So you can see behind the radio right?
Cant find the thread, but its easy to do. Bunch of bolts all along the dash. Pull out vents also, there are 1 in each i believe. of course take off your bezel, theres some behind that also..

I'll see if i can find the thread w/ pics that i used..

Grill is Lookin nice, dont think I've seen that style on a tahoe and maybe only on 1 silverado before. Always a plus to have something a little different.

Shouldn't need to remove the whole dash pad to fit the new headunit into the dash. just so we're on the same page your referring to the vertical metal bar located behind the stock unit location right?
Depending on how steady your hand is and what tools you have available you should be able to cut it out with the pad still on and the bezel removed. For a friend's sierra, We used a small electric reciprocating saw, like a mini sawzall, and after taping all of the wiring out of the way, were able to simply cut it out and took a flat file and smoothed out the edges just as a precaution if there were any wiring harnesses pressed against it. I know there are several companies that make similar "mini"reciprocating saws that run off of compressors and I'm sure dremel has somethig that could get it done, especially with that snake-flex hose attachment.
A small hacksaw and some patience would get it done too

Ok, i get what ur sayin about cuttin it. Just removed my amps and subs cuz i wasnt happy with the job i did so it would be nice to know how to remove the dash pad. I just dont like the way the motorized hu's stick out so i wanted to recess it but its kind of hard with that bracket and the dash pad installed, trying to tuck the wires. Thanks fellaz for the compliments.
