I am installing a new set of OEM fuel injectors to hopefully cure the erratic idle and oil dilution problems on my 5.3L. When I removed the original injectors from the rails, I discovered that each bank has a matched set (same build number on each). Please see attached. I am assuming this is because each bank uses the same O2 sensor.

I have a box of new ACDelco OEM injectors from RockAuto, however they are not matched build numbers. Do I need to order a matched set of replacement injectors?

Does anyone have quick advice off the top of their head? I apologize but I need to figure out soon if I should delay some other repairs early this coming week.

Thank you!

I put new injectors in my 2000 not that long ago the originals were single spray pattern and the replacements were dual spray pattern, never bothered to check if they were the same build number never crossed my mind and I never had any problem, I am no professional but I think as long as they are all the same part/type you should be just fine. I never read about any having to be a "build match" and its more likely yours are only the same build because they came down the assembly line that way.

Thanks for the tip. I went ahead an installed the injectors- not sure they sat properly so I will double check tomorrow.

I was just surprised to see that my injectors were "bank matched". I've heard of the technique in the aftermarket but couldn't imagine an OEM would do the same. I wonder if other peoples' motors have the same "bank matching"?

This reminds me, back in the day, we set up our injectors over six jars and ran them for a certain amount of time and then measured the fuel in each jar afterwards. We kept swapping them out until they were as close as we could get with what we had. Worked very well for us.
