Torque Management

I apologize if this has been discussed before. Do all the NNBS Tahoes/Burbs have torque management?
I have an 09 5.3L with the 6 speed. If so, should I dig into my Diablosport tune deeper and turn it off?

"Yes" and "If you want to". Reducing and or eliminating TM results in more power "remaining" available to be put to the ground, but also results in more drivetrain and driveline stresses. You play, you pay. BTW, I am in NO way advocating leaving TM alone. My recommendation is to reduce it but not totally eliminate it.

Thanks, I will play with my tuner and see if they offer a percentage reduction. It just feels like something is holding me back a tad on take off. I'm not talking about stomping on it from a dead stop, but when I need to pull out onto the highway from my neighborhood, I feel that the 5.3 should pull a little harder.

A very respected tuner told me to turn the engine TM off and take out 75% of the transmission TM

I only have the option to turn off the Upshift TM in my TCM. I opted to just leave it alone until I can research further.

I just recently tuned via diablesport i2030, of which I turned OFF the TM, different is noticeable (or I think it is...hard know exactly when you do a tune as you change many things all at the same time)...anyway if anything I have noticed it mostly at passing speeds just being more engaged and less lag.

note; I believe there is also TM on the tranny screen as well, this I left alone for now.

Interesting. I'm getting an in-person BBP tune in may and will be curious to cover this.

I'm no stoplight racer anymore, and I'm not interested in thrashing my driveline. Just looking for optimal drivability and responsiveness from my daily driver.

Responsiveness is what I want as well, which is why I'd have a trusted tuner (such as BB) adjust the TM. They have enough experience to know what can be removed to improve on or completely eliminate the sluggishness while maintaining some sort of protection, if any is desired. Personally, if I wanna be easier on my drivetrain, I'll have to control my right foot. I don't want a computer to determine that I'm being naughty and deny my request for power. If something breaks, it needed to be upgraded in the first place.

According to Diablosport employee Lew, the TM settings in the ECM are automatically turned off in their canned tunes, only in the TCM can you choose to turn it off. I turned mine off the other day but left the shift firmness stock and it improved the hesitation I was feeling.

hmm that's interesting, thanks for the info I didn't know that.. side note; I really wish diablosport would post more details on their 'canned' tunes, it would just be really help when selecting the mods you want or don't....but its likely not transparent for 'business reasons' I suppose).

I do know from reading there that the 87 tune doesn't tweak timing and fuel, just raising and lowering parameters and limits. The 93 octane tune goes into the deep end with WOT timing and felt torque across the throttle range. It is when you get the custom tunes from one of their techs like Lew (for $150 extra) that he can fine tune to accomidate any aftermarket add ons and really peak out your tune. I am happy with my results from the 87 octane tune and AFM and TM disable. Maybe once fuel prices get a dollar lower, I may see what the 93 tune does.
