Would he have let you supply pre bent brake lines? I used to run a shop where we made our own lines. The vehicles were older and simpler then as well. The lines now days require a different type of flare and some of the routing can be time consuming. Dealing with rust plays in to this too. Is he reusing any junction blocks or replacing them? His $800 fee is mostly labor, for sure. What is the labor rate?Around a week ago my gf was driving the Tahoe, and while braking a brake line popped. Thankfully she was able to drive it home. I knew it was a brake line, but I'm tired of messing with it--plus I don't have any time. So we dropped it off to a local mechanic. I don't trust any of the local guys. In my experience they're all thieves--some worse then others.
So this guy calls today and says al the lines need to be replaced because they're all rotted. A guy a few years ago replaced the rear lines, but I'm going with it. $800 to replace them all. Seems expensive to me, and he says he can't buy them pre-bent--I know they make them--and he has to make them all, which i know isn't really hard to do. Really pisses me off. Really I'm just venting right now. I hate when these guys talk to me like I don't have a clue. Assholes.
Im not even sure what his rate is. I know it's equal to what every other shop charges. Over $100 an hr for sure. I assume he'll use the old junction block, as there's nothing wrong with it. But you know what happens when you assume. I can almost bet money he'll say something el$e is bad and it'll need to be replaced. I disapprove of this type of shenanigans!! Be careful cuz we need your crazy A-S-S around here still! lolBeyotch tried to bite me today--my own fault tho.View attachment 467914View attachment 467915
It WAS straight when I backed into the driveway to do the rear brakes. I was jacking up the passenger side--I already had the wheel off with some blocks underneath. Blocks were a little cocked when I let the jack down, so I wanted to adjust them some. I moved the jack under the pumpkin and started jacking, got higher and the jack twisted then it fell off the jack and the ***** fell to the right. I was lucky today.

Duuuuude. SO glad that didn't turn out badly. Glad you could laugh it off but please don't do that again. And thanks for sharing because I'm just the kinda guy to do stuff like that, even though I know better. Sometimes my laziness overtakes my self-preservation instinct. Next time that happens, this will float into my mind and keep me from making a painful (or fatal) mistake.Beyotch tried to bite me today--my own fault tho.View attachment 467914View attachment 467915
