I have run on everything from Pirelli, to Toyo, to Nitto, to Goodyear, etc. etc. Now I run Nankang. It's in the same league as Suny and Nexan. Basically, they're "The little guys" over there (Japan). They have the same quailty & Ride, and in some cases, they are made by the manufacturers of the name brands. I can't remember right now, but one of the little guys is owned by one of the big guys and they actually are the same tire. We typically don't see them over here, because very few people import them, which is likely due to people not trusting a "name". I can't say that I have analyzed and compared the compounds, but from my experience, a Nankang performs just as well as the most expensive (comparable) tire I've had the pleasure of riding on. This is exactly why I decided to educate myself on the tire itself. If you know what you're looking for in a tire, it doesn't matter who makes it. All that matters are the specs, and the price. Know what performance you want out of it. Tread ratings: Speed, Milage, Performace. Then get the cheapest thing that fits your needs. My 2cents

Thanks Chip for this. Never really messed with tires much before. But now that im needing some, im kind of lost. I dont really want to spend 1k for 20" tires. To much to me. Ive heard of nankang before. To me i think just like you say some are scared of off brand names, not me, tire is a tire long as it does what i want it to. Just looking for a all around good tire, wet/dry and road noise minimal. Im liking the toyo tire tread. lol. But on tire rack i dont see many choices of tire brands. I need some pretty soon, so i dont have to much time to research them. Even though i should. Thanks on to looking some more

My pleasure! If I were you, I would run something like a Nankang. I get 305/40/22s for $140 each (mounted) all day. That's like a sore ******: You just can't beat it! They have no road noise at all (that I can notice), it's a good all around, bi-directional tire, and I expect to get about 30-40K miles out of them. I'd say if you can't find a 20" tire under $120 on tire rack, go with a Nankang.

For $140, thats not bad for 22's and mounted. Ive been looking at tirerack, no luck really. the tires that i see are too much. One i did see, the reviews werent very good and all complained about road noise. Im going to look into the nankang tires.

I don't know why tirerack can't compete when it comes to 22"+ tires. Their 17 & 18 inch tire prices are out of this world.

Where did you get the Nankang tires from? They dont show 275/45/20. Tirerack shows some others. I really have no idea what to look for in a tire. I just want something that wears good, one that can get me good mileage use out of them, road noise minimal, and not 1k for all. In either 275/ or 285. 45 series. Alot that show up are the falkens, generals, kuhmos, and hankook.

I ran the General Grabber HTS and liked them. If you want a tire that will get you good gas mileage, look for one that has a LRR (low rolling resistance) rateing. I am running Bridgestone Duellers right now. They have great wet/snow traction. Especially since we just got 21in of snow tuesday night.

I got them from a local tire shop in St. Pete, BUT I just happened to find them on EBAY, so I know they sell them on there. Go to EBAY and look for "AK Tires", or you can call them and ask for David @ (727) 571-1484
Tell him Chip sent you.

Ive seen the bridgestones on there also. Dont really need the snow part here, but wet and dry yes. For gas mileage thats always a plus, just looking for one that will last good amount of miles. W/o having to replace in a couple months.
