Service 4wd light

A few weeks before I replaced my transfer case the light would show up every now and then, I thought that maybe after replacing my transfer case (which I was going to do anyway) it would stop coming on, but it doesn’t. It does go off after I turn off the truck. I have been paying attention to my driving habits to see if I can replicate the reason it comes on but nothing! Is there anyway to find out why it’s coming on without having to go to a dealer or expensive shop?

i believe there is a way to put into self diagnostic and it will blink a code back at you. i cant remember or you could get an advanced scan tool capable of talking to the module.

It looks like a good scanner is going to be needed here, but maybe you can rule out a few things...

There is a YouTube vid of a guy checking resistance on all the buttons. Interrsting info.

Yea I’ve looked through most of the vids but haven’t really found anything useful that doesn’t involve a scanner. I do remember that it didn’t start doing this until I jiggled some of the wiring a while back, before changing the tc, so maybe I should take a hard look at my connections and the harness.

Yea I saw that one, he’s got some good info in there but his selector switch only had three buttons, mine has four so I’m not sure if those procedures or anything would work on mine, it’s all above my electric pay grade too
