I replaced the front struts with Arnott’s SK-2954 assemblies. Super easy install. They included some nice resistors for spoofing the ride computer. It rides pretty nice now, those were a huge improvement. It does sit about 3/4” lower for some reason. So I ordered some 5” drop springs to swap the 4” drop springs out with. The rear was close to needing to be dropped a bit before but now it definitely does. I need to do the rear travel mod. I bought a plasma cutter but haven’t had time to get into it. I’m trying to get stuff done before this coming Wednesday because I’m scheduled for surgery which is in effect a look see inside my bladder for any remaining cancer after treatments. Hoping for no surgery but I have to be ready. I feel great so we will see. :p

I read that sometimes the transfer case actuator gets some issue that can be solved by a hard reset and that disconnecting the battery for a half hour will do that. I did that this morning and afterwards started it up. Same message “service 4WD” so I figured it didn’t work. It’s been doing it every startup for several days. Then later this morning I drove to the UPS store and when I got home I noticed there had been no messages on the DIC. Ok. That was 2 startups so no big deal, coincidence right? Then later I moved it into the yard to work on the Boost Auto fog light mod and no error so 2 more. Then I started it up to check on the mod and it still hasn’t shown the message on the DIC. Fingers crossed.

Oh and the Boost Auto auto fog light mod is simple to install. Just follow the instructions on which wires to tap into on the BCM.

This turns on the fogs when the headlights are on when in “auto” mode. Which is where I leave mine set. I like it. It’s probably just a diode heat shrunk with a couple connectors and I paid a stupid price ($35?) for it but it was worth it to not have to mess with finding out how to do this. I did it the old fashioned way on the 02 but there was a clear write up on it. I didn’t see one for the NNBS.

Is that this Boost auto fog light mod?

I have that part, just haven’t installed it yet , but do like the fogs always on.

1999 - 2025 GM Auto Fogs Mod

Activate your fog lights automatically any time the parking lights are on.

Yesterday I had my TURBT operation on my bladder and prostate. He found zero cancer, just a couple areas he wanted to biopsy, and then he biopsied my prostate. Those results aren’t in yet but the initial impression is the best possible outcome. Both types are gone. And there’s been no sign of the small cell since chemo.

So today I’m back to normal mostly. I decided to start on the free travel mod since I needed to, it’s been banging on hard bumps back there. Also for some reason when I replaced the front coilovers it dropped the front another inch. So I got some 5” rear drop coils instead of the 4” ones in there, to get the back down an inch more too. I got the hard side by the fuel tank done this afternoon. I used the new plasma cutter as much as I could but it didn’t fit in most of those places I needed to cut, so the angle grinder sawzall and prybars helped. Initial measurements after a short ride is 1 1/4” lower. I may be able to adjust the ride height sensor rods and get a bit more. I’ll see tomorrow after I do the other side. I was on doggie duty today too, my friend is in the hospital.

I finished the free travel mod and cut down the ride height sensor rods 1/4” since as I recall it’s 1/4” per inch of lift or drop. I started it up and the compressor ran forever and it raised the rear a full inch from where it sits with the bags deflated. The rods can’t be any shorter or they pop apart with the suspension hanging. I hooked up the Tech2 and opened the exhaust valve and dumped all the air and then first tried the bump stop test just for the hell of it. There’s no bump stops. It said I possibly chose the wrong vehicle in the menu.:p Then I did the ALC Trimset calibration and it raised it 1/8” from aired out. Perfect. I think the stance is right now. Looks good to me! I’ll get some better pictures later. I’m tired.

It looks like the service 4WD messsge was the switch needed to be exercised a few times and switch between the modes a few times, and now the message is staying off.
My avalanche did that, then would not switch to 4wd or out of 4wd, one of the two. Once I got it to do its thing, I cycled it a few times. So far so good

Is it my eyes, or the photo angle, but are the front wheels totally vertical, or is the top of the tire further inboard than the bottom of the tire?

It needs an alignment after lowering it, the camber is off yes. She drives awesome though and I have done 4 different lowering options, 2 different front heights and 2 different rear heights. I wanted to get it exactly where I wanted it before having it aligned. It’s there now so I can get that done. :)
