Years ago, when I was an insurance adjuster / investigator, .. I noted insurance coverage cost can be determined partly by how far away the fire station was to the property. I wonder how far away it is from this property?

Not an issue. He's going to buy his own fire department to keep on the land as well.

I’ve noticed that. My policies list over or under 1000’ from fire hydrant and within x miles from fire department.

I’m not sure how codes are in Tennessee but new construction requires sprinkler system, so that may help with premiums if they’re being installed.

Wow, missed all the action over here.

Side by side for property maintenance and things is the plan

We have fire hydrants on my road.

They added the footprint of the house. The box outside the garage is just to demonstrate 35' depth for turning into the garage. Not sure how much more detailed it's going to get until we flag the corners and do field adjustments.

Did you builder give you your bid back?
Not a full quote. Will finalize everything once we have the actual elevation shots done. I posted the dry in materials estimate a while back.

I'm hoping the weather cooperates while we're on vacation and they can finish up grading next week. Either way, I'm staking the house when we get back they're close enough as it is.

Current game plan is to shoot and stake the house when I get back. Get elevations added to the plans and submit those to HOA for approval in the month of March. Have grading wrapped up, get everything sorted with the bank. Ideally, we would start building in April.

Not sure if things will move that fast though. My understanding is, it depends on how fast the title checks come back. If it's quick, it should be less than 30 days.

For all of you with a side entry garage, what's the width of your driveway and is it adequate?

Suggestions are all over place. 30' would be the minimum I'd imagine

Driveways….. My biggest complaint with newer neighborhoods….. Diveways must be at least 2 feet wider on each side, than the garage opening.

For a side entry, I’d want to be able to EASILY turn into the garage without making it a 3-point-turn, considering the size of a Surburban’s turning radius.

30' wide driveway? Holy crap thats a lot of concrete for that run. I think ours will be 15' down to the house, then open wide up in the "motor court" I guess they call it.

This is why I'm asking. For those who have a side entry, I'd like to know your setup and what you'd recommend

Don't be gay

I'm taking about the width at garage entry.

Our main drive will be 12', which is what the gravel is now.

Can you find a large parking lot where you use cones and chalk to mock it out and with your vehicles try real world type approach to see how large an area you need

Or, just follow Mountie's method and brake going into the turn and accelerate exiting, as you are not entering a straight away but the garage so mastering this technique may be challenging
