I moved into the NW corner. I'll try to stay out of sight.

Rain, snow, ice. Not enough sun.

They have the shop pad to grade, but still have to cut the driveway and by the house. IDK what that means exactly, I haven't been out there in a month or so. It's frustrating to say the least.

Cant change the weather. If they can ever finish that part, it's time to stake the house and get everything rolling.

Edit: I went back to my last update. Few things.

They hauled 14 more loads of dirt. Shot grade and I was 4' higher on the house side of the pad than the catch basin side. Turns out the catch basin was not high...they cleared more trees in the front. I haven't taken any pictures because I haven't been out there

If you need me to show up with a shovel, let me know. I can dig a doozy of a hole.

This is not good. I was planning my royal visit for late summer and it looks like that shit's not happening. What. Ever!!
Ah, who knows. Winter is never a good time to start so I guess it's a good thing. They literally have 3 days of work left, but it requires dry ground....

I have my guy lined up to do my grade shots and corner stakes for the house, as soon as it gets done. As soon as all that gets done, we get finalized quotes, then bank, then rock and roll.

Also, I'll have some cool drone imaging coming soon...GPS drone that shoots topography. Gotta get that done before the leaves come in. We'll fly it periodically throughout the building process as well. Pretty awesome tech.

If you guys think you're getting impatient, trust me, I've been there...for a solid year

Yeah man. Especially THIS winter. Here in Richmond we've had the longest stretch of days below freezing since the 1930's. We finally warmed up enough yesterday to break up the layer of hard ice that's been sitting on top of everything. February is a terrible time for dirt work at our latitude.

Looking forward to the drone footage. And I can only imagine how impatient you're feeling.

If it would freeze, that would be better. It simply freezes, then thaws when the sun hits it. You can work for about 2 hours, then it turns to muck. Even in the days it in the low teens. Then freeze/thaw. Its just a ****** time.

The drone is awesome. I have my regular drone also, but this one does a 3d map of the site. It does it based on imagery...contours, property lines, utilities, all can be loaded in this model data. I'll have exact GPS cooridinates of everything, within 1cm. Future me will thank me.

My grading guy sent these two pics yesterday evening. You can see how much cut they've cut by looking at the area around the logs. May ride out there tomorrow.

Notice the catch basin isn't sticking up anymore.

We drove out there today. Not much better pictures than what was sent to me, but here they are

Land def tricks your eyes. This looked flat before, it's now about 2' higher closest to me

Catch basin is level, nothing was removed from its original height

Looking down the hill from the catch basin. Under drains are working. Water was flowing in the basin. First time the grade has been filled in enough for me to look down in it. For those keeping up, this catch basin is 17' deep.

Future home site. More trees have been taken down to the left.

If you guys will remember, this is what it looked like after the initial fill dirt was hauled in. The big hump wasn't going to work. All that material has been moved to the area around the basin and the land is back to where we started. At this point, I've gained about 20' of buildable ground, at the shop area.

Also crazy that this was so much higher than the basin. It looked level...
