This is the dash trim piece located on the passenger side. Its part no 20935555, appears to be some kind of thin wood veneer with a thick clear polycarb or acrylic cover. I have a large crack running lengthwise across the middle. The crack is only through the clear plastic coating and not through the wood veneer or trim piece itself.

Is there some material I can use to hide or repair this crack? Does anyone know what kind of material this clear plastic coating is? A new piece is $500+ and I am tired of looking at it so I might as well try before ordering a new one.

A pic for reference, not my actual trim piece.

To fix a crack in the clear coat, it would have to be sanded down through the crack and recleared. It would take some serious skill for it to turn out right and probably cost as much as a new one.

I may have a used one available soon if you’re interested.
