This summer I'm gonna change my VLOM cover & gasket, install a new harmonic balancer pulley, bolt, and seal. Timing cover gasket too.

I did the oil pan and rear main cover & seal 5 + yrs ago, and all is well still.

Well I took my time and redid the valley pan cover, gaskets and cleaned everything. Oil pressure is reaching higher now into the 40-45psi range on startup but still drops considerably too low after warm so I will tackle the oil pump next week. I was hoping to get to it today but that won't happen. The oil pump has multiple gaskets that came with it for the pickup tube as well and someone had mentioned that GMC used different pickup tubes in 2007 when they were switching to 2008 era. Not sure if it's true or not but I do have 4 gaskets now to choose from but I will probably stick with the 24701 red felpro.

I have to do some further inspecting of the Denali but the oil leak seems to be only when the truck is running so I'm thinking a rear main seal is thee culprit on that. Not sure though. I am half tempted to have my local shop do it only because I don't have a lift and being on my back that long doesn't seem fun. We will see.

Here is a question for everyone. I looked at the cam right before reassembly and I'm noticing some marks. Wondering if I should replace this cam? Should I consider like a stage 2/3 kit?

others will chime in, but yeah. that rough Grey part is concerning.

just for comparison sake, I took almost the same Pic of mine when I did the vlom mods. that's at 140 ish. notice the lack of rough band yours have

Well I will make a party of it and order a new cam when I do the oil pump. Now I just have to decide if I should do a stage 2/3 upgrade.

I did the down hill and it didn't help. I also overfilled a few quarts and that didn't help either. So I'm assuming the oil pump is completely shot.

Cams w/VVT have 1 bolt, without VVT have 3 bolts.
