This is why. I can clean both ends of it and make sure there is flow thru it, but I cannot see inside that tube and I have it off and it is not expensive, so I am replacing it. It is just another thing on my list that I can check off and move on with no "unknowing". I know I have said I like to spend other people's money but I like to spend my money too, on my rig.

But, thanks for asking.

There are lots of non wear items that get replaced just because. I am a "just because" guy, within reason.

I gotcha! There just seemed to be a sudden influx lately of people mentioning replacing it and thought I missed something. I was thinking maybe they had a crappy weld on the mounting tab or something that is weakened when it's removed or maybe an updated design.

I posted too quick and my response is out of order. Plug and play or what do I have to do?

Denali cluster also has it if you can't find or don't like the Escalade cluster. Yes- plug-and-play. Hell, I plugged a Denali cluster into my '02 S10 and the trans temp gauge worked. All the gauges worked, tach was off (S10 was a V-6).

Pretty sure you'll need a late-year '03 or '04+ cluster, though. You'll also need to have the mileage programmed.

Yea, program mileage and asked @Tonyrodz what year so maybe he and you agree which year to get.

Ok. Quick search here found one for Denali for $125 but was for 2001. The search continues and I am gonna do it though. Like that look.

No, mine's a 2005 Z71 2WD package. Only year they made those. 200,000 miles and still going strong. Preventive maintenance is the key.

Roof rack lights were a mod I did using halogen lights I got off Ebay. Hooked them up to the trailer hitch wiring harness with a switch under dash also for lighting things up really good at night. Really good for putting the trailer ball directly under the hitch at night. With backup camera of course.

Swapping the cluster for the tranny gauge is an option, but more expensive and you will still have to have it reprogrammed for correct odometer reading. I put in blue LED's in mine at the same time.

Wheels are 2007 Yukon.

You could check with Carl if you want to get something that's been totally re-done, and with the tranny gauge. https://www.fixmygauges.com/

When DDS was rebuilding them I sent mine to get all new backlighting LEDs, stepper motors, and the tranny gauge. He programs the VIN and mileage. I understand that he no longer repairs them, but I think his son may have taken that part over.
