New system and soundstages

So I use to have an old 98 tahoe with an aftermarket deck and some Alpine Type S's coaxials in the door with tweets, unamped, and I loved the crispness and power of the sound. Now I'm driving an '07 Tahoe with the Bose, and it just doesn't quite cut it. I have 2 10's in a bandpass box, I'm about to switch over to a 12w6 in a ported box, and I want to do something with the doors. I'm trying to not go overboard spending money. How bad would it be if I amped components in the front doors and left the rear doors stock. Would it sound like shit? Also, where are ya'll putting tweeters. Does anyone make molded A-pillars with a tweet mount? Also, I know the general idea behind taking the door off, how bad is it?

Also, is there any benefit in putting un-amped coaxial's in the door hooked up to the stock HU?

Unamped coaxials in your door arnet going to sound as good imo. Its going to be too much tweeter for me personally. I personally have also had type s coax off headunit power and it is no way near the mid output of the bose system. If i were you, i would save up for a nice component set up front ie. rainbow, focal, boston, hertz, etc. Then spend the money on a nice amp for them. Thats all personal opinion, but i would be willing to bet others would say the same.

I agree sorta.. this is where we kinda waver.. a nicer speaker with the same ohm load as the bose setup but with a higher efficiency is going to be louder, cleaner, and handle more volume.. so this is the advantage to replacing speakers directly without replacing headunits and amps.. BUT.. the advantages ARE minimal.

Second.. components arent the perfect answer in all cases IMO.. and as much as it would be nice to run some Focal , Morel , Rainbow components in the doors.. a simple set of plug and play CoAx from any one of those brands will out perform 99% of the more recognized "off the shelf" name brands out there imo.. all im saying is id rather see him run NICE coax than half ass components.

Problem is, you will be hard pressed to find a good set of componets to match the impedance of the Bose. Changing from Bose to a good 4 channel amp and even decent componets, would IMHO be a huge benefit over the factory.

Not only just the impedance, but also the frequency that each speaker is being given by the bose amp. Thats why i think its all or nothin with factory amped systems. Its not worth teh work to me to just drop new speakers in. I do agree with you though MOB, it would be possible to have a drop in that works, and i would much rather see a high end coax in there then half-assed components

Very good points, at this point I'm definitely amping the mids. I'm not sure if I should go the 5 channel amp route fpr mid/sub, or just add a small amp for the mids. If I were to run a small 2 channel amp to a nice set of mids in the front doors, would it sound funky if I just left the rear doors stock? I'm also worried about not having eq with amped mids, I use to spend a lot of time adjusting the eq it in my old tahoe, I'd hate to be "stuck" with whatever stock setting the stock HU has.

yes, if you can, get a good 5 channel amp and at least that's out of the way. Even if you can only afford front now with amp, and use stock rears and no sub. You have a foundation to build off of.

+1 if you arent planning on going with a massive sub build a nice 5 channel might satisfy you for the life of the truck...
and the amp will let you adjust it a lil.. i know its not a big ass multi band eq but im sure you can get alot better than what you have now out of it.
