I finally met back up with my friend. I'm super stupid he has a 2010 Silverado and I looked up a 2014. Turns out the FSM formatting changed sometime between those years. The older impossible to search format is utilized by the 2010. I can find
most of what I need
except for the door to body connector end view and circuit diagram for routing the door ajar signal to BCM.
I want to probe the door ajar signal at the connector in the footwell where it enters the body from the door. However, I cannot for the LIFE of me find that connector end view or what it's called. I found a list of connectors and splice packs in the door
HERE. There's
X600 (door power and signals) and
X601 (collision sensor) along with a few splice packs (but not what the splice packs are splicing, grounds???). I found door ajar signal in the harness for the rear doors,
X800. However, I cannot find the door ajar signal for the front passenger door (nor driver side)! Super annoying. Maybe a typo in the FSM????
I did see the door ajar signal is a discrete (on / off) signal converted by BCM to serial data for instrument cluster as I'd suspected. I also found the signal from the door ajar switch in the BCM connector. But cannot find it at the door to body connector nor what the body side connector is even called. I noticed the door lock switch is a ground connected through the BCM, so the BCM can detect if the lock mechanism is working via measuring current across ground. However, that's nothing to do with door ajar signal / the door clasp!
These older FSM formats are harder than heck to search. Been at it for literally a couple hours.
Anybody know where I can find the body side connector end view / pinout containing which pin is the door ajar signal for the front passenger side door?
Likely the circuit is just a connection to BCM, however, any schematics would be nice too.
I'm giving up I've been at this for hours. I probably could have fixed it w/o anything by this point, however, I want to pass info off onto him so he can do the repair and he'll need it.
NOTE: I also wiggled the conduit containing door wiring to body, and it had no effect. Only slamming the door seems to resolve the issue. I think it's something inside the door, likely the switch itself but confirming wiring is correct would be prudent IMO.
