Nav radio upgrade.

Does the Kenwood/Maestro combination work with Rear Entertainment Systems that have dual screens where you can select different inputs for each of the screens? That’s what I have in my 2013 Denali XL.

I have a Kenwood/Maestro setup in my 2012 Denali XL and the RSE works but I don't think you can watch different videos. I'm pretty sure both screens use the same input in the harness.

I would want to at least be able to have the kids be able to watch a movie or listen to an audio book while listening on the wireless head phones while I listen to the radio over the speakers.

You can have separate things on the H/U and RSE. I just don't think you can split the RSE.

I think if I lost the ability to split the screens, that might fly.

The factory RSE shows the same thing on the rear 2 screens. You can only choose which screens are on, 2nd row or 3rd row or both. You can also listen to a different input through the speakers while the rear seats watch or listen to something else through the headsets, like you said.

Sounds like the setup itsbo1313 has above does the same.

I must be missing something or not explaining my question clearly.

My kids can play a video game hooked up via A/V jacks on one screen while listening on their wireless headsets and watch a DVD play a movie on the other screen while listening on their wireless headsets while my wife and I are listening to music upfront on the speakers. My question is if I can get an aftermarket head unit set-up that keeps that functionality.

I don't think mine can do that, although I've never tried.

I'll be damned, mine does that too! My owners manual says the exact same thing.

I wouldn't trade my Kenwood for a dozen factory Navis... I couldn't stand the factory HU.

Depends on your definition of "not break the bank".

I have a 2008 Suburban LTZ and I originally swapped my factory navigation out for a Rosen GM1210, which looks completely stock but works and sounds much better.

I bought it from Walt at ADC mobile @adcmobile

But the GM1210 is no longer available it looks like.

About $700 but all plug and play with no additional adapters to buy to keep everything functional. These units are also less likely to get your window broken by a stereo thief as they look like a factory Navi.

I ended up swapping the Rosen out for a Kenwood DNX575S and am very pleased with it as well. It uses Garmin navigation so, for me atleast, is very intuitive. It does require additional adapters to maintain all the factory functions but it also does a lot more.

I used an Idatalink Maestro RR module to keep the steering wheel controls and rear seat entertainment, etc. and it also adds OBD2 functions to the head unit so you can look at your tire pressures, speed, RPM, coolant temp, and a whole lot of other stuff. You can even use it to check your check engine light if it comes on and the sound quality is much better than the stock Navi. It makes the factory Bose "subwoofer" under the center console actually sound like a subwoofer.

I bought everything I needed to install the Kenwood, including the Head unit, from Ebay and just price shopped, for less than $600.

That was Head unit, dash install kit, Maestro, vehicle specific harness for the Maestro, rear seat entertainment harness for the Maestro, everything.

I sold it on Ebay.

It started having issues with the screen not turning on or freezing up.

I just reread my post and realized how this made me sound. So to clarify.... I sold it on Ebay to a company that actually fixes these units. So they were fully aware of the issue it had.

I didn't want anyone thinking I pulled the wool over anyone's eyes or swindled someone by selling them a defective HU.

Maybe so but I'm tryin to do something to the Hoe that will not cost me a ton of money I dont have right now. Furloughed this whole month so far. And with school out for the summer im tryin to find some stuff to do to it. Got a GM Nav antenna ordered and when it comes in I can install it THEN put the DashSkin on. When I do go back to work im gonna lower it THEN put those KMC Blades 24s on it too.

Did this radio swap on my LMM a few years ago. Was a very simple swap really when you get the good parts to do it. I cheaped out on that Nav antenna on my truck at first. It never linked up correctly. Ended up buying a GM one. I did find a nav radio for cheap that I bought in a rush but I think it may not have the rear dvd part. 25966512.
