Maybe we can start a thread about this. Sometimes it can't be avoided or helped. Sometimes it happens due to no fault of our own, but it does happen. Coming back from Cape May, traveling on the parkway at night , I saw something fly in front of the truck. Found out the next day what it was, A bat! Poor little guy. Anyone else ? Doesn't have to be an animal, maybe a fence, hydrant, anything. Not trying to be gory or gross, just curious for entertainment's sake.

Growing up out in the country, I've hit a bunch of different things. Have hit bats, birds, chickens, wild turkeys, a cat, two dogs, 4 or 5 skunks, deer (4 occasions, hit two in one incident), a fox, and what seems like dozens of chipmunks and squirrels.

I've heard of people in my area hitting cows, coyotes, moose and even bears.

I can imagine. Car must've gotten destroyed hitting a cow! Once a baby fox ran under my car as I was driving, I think I just winged him tho.

Once in high school auto shop a teacher had a skeletal bird stuck in his grill. It was there for awhile! I was like wtf! Doesn't this guy ever look? Lol

I know a girl that had a classic 68 Camaro convertible, show quality. She clipped a deer at about 3 o'clock in the morning heading home after working in a bar all night. The deer flipped over the hood, crashed through the windshield and wound up in her backseat. She was able to slam to a halt, by which time the deer started tearing everything up trying to get out. I think she said it was like an eight or ten pointer, the antlers shredded every bit of the interior, as it was kicking it dented all the doors from the inside, completely destroyed the car.

I've been lucky having lightly grazed a few deer before (albeit while being sideways from slamming on the breaks). A friend of mine's wife hit a coyote a few months back. They repaired the damage and she hit another one in almost the same stretch of road about a week later :(

That sux! A lot of damage? Coyotes are the same size as a big dog? Or bigger?

Pitch black driving my BMW 318i. I narrowly missed a MOOSE by near inches thanks to my cat like reflexes and a tight car....gf and I just looked at each other for a moment after and didn't say a word the rest of the trip.

And you just reminded me of my horse experience. Just a Sunday drive through some small towns and was passing two people riding horses. Well I guess I spooked the horse and he damn near bucked his rider and jumped onto the road. Thankfully didn't hit him for his sake, the riders sake and the tahoes

Was in a truck I had and saw something fly in front then saw a feather explosion from my grill. Looked at it a few hours later and it was a pigeon. Left it there for a few days as a trophy because it happened in a residential area so I was going slow.
