It funny there is a love/hate with that style wheel.

I like them.

But iamdub makes a great point that the stance is making that wheel fit nicely IMO.

To elaborate on my opinion: I think when you look at just the white Suburban slammed on sporty wheels, they fit. But once you see the fancy chrome, "this-is-an-LTZ" stuff, the wheels start to look out of place. It's sporty, performance-inspired wheels on a classy/(sort of) luxury ride. It's the direct inverse of someone putting 22" spinners/floaters on a Corvette.

Also been pondering on these wheels for a minute....

I love the look of the old Iroc wheels.

I never thought I would like the black centers on the white LTZ... I was honestly thinking about staying with chrome but the ones without the black centers show the hole in the spoke more which I don't really like.

Wish I could find a good Iroc copy but finding one in a 6 lug is hard to do.

Any thoughts???
That looks awesome

I found these KMC Deuce wheels in chrome.

I was thinking about using black vinyl (maybe black reflective) to black out the centers of the spokes and around the lugs to give them a little more definition like the Iroc looking wheels I posted earlier and to tone down some of the chrome.

What do you guys think?

Separate not really digging it but on the burb looks pretty good. Reminds me of old American eagle 077’s.

I posted this in the "What did you do to your... today" thread the other day but never posted any pics.... so here is the proof as they say...

Titanium ceramic coated JBA shorty headers installed with Stage 8 locking bolts...

It's kinda hard to get a decent pic with all the stuff in the way...

Especially the passenger side...

I had the cats removed as most of you saw from the video I posted.

That lasted all of about 2 hours with all that racket. I went back to the muffler shop and had another muffler added to it. So now I have a smaller magnaflow + the Jones performance muffler + the factory resonator.... and it's still a little louder than I want... lol

I also felt like I lost some low end torque when I got rid of the cats.

So after much research I decided to have a new Y-pipe built out of 2.25" pipe and that has definitely solved the issue of lost torque. She gets up and moves now.

The factory Y-pipe is about 2.5" diameter pipe, although it is bigger in some spots. You wouldn't think that a 1/4" would make that big of a difference but it most definitely did.

Here is some interesting info...
rps20190226_230215_956.jpg

As you can see the 2.25" pipes will support up to 371 HP so I don't feel like I'm leaving anything on the table.

The idea is that the smaller pipes DO NOT create "back pressure" but do increase, or rather help to maintain, the velocity of the hot gasses which improves the scavenging effect on the cylinders.

From the factory the 2 sides of the Y-pipe meet just in front of the transmission crossmember.

My new Y-pipe stays seperate until about a foot behind the transmission crossmember and then goes into a stamped Y-connector...
rps20190226_225326_668.jpg

and into the 3" pipe going towards the mufflers. I wish I would have thought to take a pic while it was on their lift. Guess I will get one next time.

I didn't bother having them weld the rear O2 sensor bungs into the new pipe since they are turned off in the new tune.

I have driven it for a bit and I got a log sent off to Lew and he sent me my updated tune today. I have to drive it for 100-150 miles and then get him a WOT log so he can adjust the tune some more.

So far, so good. I just need to figure out a different (read bigger) muffler to tame the beast.

It's not terrible but has a drone at certain speeds/rooms.

I was looking at Gibson and also the big 30" Magnaflow.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Looking at Carven or Black Widow, they might be too small or loud for your application given your recent changes.

Although just for the name alone the BW ”Neighborhater” gets my vote. Lol

That would have been an accurate description of it the other day after removing the cats.

I would have never guessed the cats would quieten it down that much.

Great info and testing.

Do you feel as if you lost any top-end? I guess the real way to answer that would be to see what BB has to adjust. They would see a drop in CFM and vacuum at WOT at upper RPM. For that matter, they should be able to analyze any changes throughout the RPM to determine if any power was picked up in the low end. Calculating the changes in flow can create an estimated power curve chart to make comparing easier.

Cool info on the shorty headers. I read different things about them relative to actual power gains, so being able to learn from your data would be huge.

In terms of taming the dB factor via muffler, I'd either find the stock muffler or go with the largest Magnaflow that will fit your setup. Let us know!

I haven't really taken her out and opened here up on the interstate but from what little bit I have had her on the big road I would definitely say NO.

I have to be more careful now it seems because if I'm not paying attention she will get away from me... I will look down and be 10-15 over the speed limit and not realize it. So she just seems to want to go more now.

I don't have a BB tune... it is a Diablew tune via a Diablo sport tuner.

I did ask him if there was a big difference from the last tune...

Me... "Just out of curiosity was there much of a difference from the last tune???
I'm just curious how much of a difference the headers and y pipe made."

Lew... "yeah I made a bunch of adjustments.. airflow, fueling, timing, WOT fueling, WOT timing, etc.."

So who knows... maybe he's being completely honest or maybe he's just blowing smoke to make me feel like I'm getting my money's worth... lol

To be honest I didn't notice a big difference when I first got the headers on and after removing the cats I felt like I lost some bottom end. It wasn't until I had the new 2.25" Y-pipe built that it made a big difference.

I don't know how much to attribute to the headers and how much to attribute to the Y-pipe BUT the combo is a winner.

I have been looking at a chambered and baffled Gibson that is 24" long and a Magnaflow XL 3 chamber muffler that is 34" long.

I'm thinking the longer the better to keep the sound level decent.
