Who in detail explain gearing in easy explanation . What is 3.23 gear setup good for vs other gears. I have a Tahoe RST 6.2 with 10 speed transmission. Is this gear bad for towing what is this gear used for . Who can give an easy simple explanation on gearing I have read some and still lost.

The lower the number the better mileage and usually lower rpm. High numbers like 4:11 are for fast starts. With the 10 speed it’s not bad at all for towing. My Dad’s truck has 2:56 gears so it cruises at low rpms. Your gears aren’t for racing from a stop but are good for the engine and mpg.

He can hold the trans in 6th gear and have a 4.13 final drive ratio. 1st gear in Jorge's Tahoe is 15.18:1! Compare that with the 6L80 with a 3.42 gear is 13.77:1 and the 4-speed with a 3.73 gear is 11.41:1

Makes for a quick giddy up!
