I'd like 31" or 33" tires since I do some beach driving, but not sure that's possible with a Denali. The air ride seems to cancel out the lift possibilities from what I've read. How big can I go under the stock fenders with tires?

Dude almost any SUV can clear a 31" tire, 33" will not clear w.o some mods though.

Well, this is my first "truck" so I'm admittedly ignorant on most things relating to them. I don't want to assume something, spend the money on tires, and then find out they rub when I turn or something equally annoying.

I'm making the assumption that you have 17" stock denali wheels, is that accurate? If so, the biggest tire you can run is 285-75-17, but it will require you to at the very least crank your stock torsion bars up a little. I went the safe route and did F150 keys in the front and 1.5" spacers out back and really like the stance of my rig. I'm running 285-75-16, which is the 16" equivalent of 285-70-17. Both are JUST under 33", but not quite as wide so you can fit them on the stock wheels.

You could run 275-60-17 if you wanted a little more meat without having to do any mods, but the difference won't be all that noticeable. YMMV though, looks are all subjective.

I bought it with 20" wheels. It's got 31" tires on it now (I figured that out after I posted this thread...they didn't look that big to me). I guess I'm looking for wider and taller...something to make a bigger footprint in sand so I don't sink it up to the running boards and get stuck.

275/60/20s will fit if you crank the torsion bars up a bit and realign the truck.
