I thought it was just a chrome strip but there's also body matched molding under/attached to it

Thanks! I couldn't find any escalade vent caps so I ordered a set of street scene smooth version and plan to have them painted to match as well. I hope Its not that important for it to vent back there.

I would love to pick up a set of running boards and racks for it but there so damn expensive and hard to find I'm not sure it's gonna be worth all the trouble.

I know what you mean. If you are concerned about resale value at all, I would skip it b/c I'm pretty sure you won't get that money back. Running boards and racks are typically not items people "need" but are happy to have if the truck already has them.

yeah I know anything that you do to cars wont help increase the resell unless you find a particular individual looking for something you have already done. I think the running boards and roof rack would add to the chrome on the handle and on the side. Sourcing those will be the hardest thing IMO.

ok so if the chrome strip is messed up, remove the moldings altogether. Just saw you have the color matched door handles...that will look give a clean look to the side

UPDATE:

I went by the body shop to check on the progress.... I guess one of there painters quit so they are running behind on work so it might be another week or so before I get it back. I also decided to have them powder coat the hitch so it doesnt look aged and rusty since there removing the bumper.

Anybody in this thread do body work? I didn't get a chance to talk to the guy I've been dealing with on this project but I am wondering why they would go around and mark all chips, dings, corrosion & defects in the paint when they are to paint the whole thing. here are some pics
