Too many..that's why Im laying on my back in the driveway destroying my body.
Until recently I used to do that and then compared the amount of recover time vs the dollars and threw in the towel.
Sooner or later we have to give up the macho attitude and redirect our interests.
I'd rather hike than recover from thinking I am who I used to be.

Locally, the labor on a rear main seal replacement is around $1,500. I can do it myself on a Saturday. Yeah, my 62-year-old muscles are a little bit sore for 3 days.... But while I can, I refuse to fork over that kind of money for one day of work.

LOL, my neighbors were surprised to see me complete my entire 35 square roof job by myself, over a 3 week period only working till noon each day because of the heat. Lost a little bit of weight, built up a little bit muscle, and saved myself the lowest bid of $32,000. As long as the math pencils out so good, I will keep the bottle of ibuprofen on the counter :)

I was getting quotes close to 3 grand for a rear main in N.J. from shops I dont trust. A dealer wants $1200 to change a motor mount. I'll keep depositing knuckle blood on my driveway until I can't anymore.

I got three quotes at about $18,000 to strip and replace our 28 square roof with lifetime materials.
One day job any of them. It helps to find a line on a commercial roofing company (vs residential). In my experience they are all business, no talking, no hanging around and every worker knows his part of the job without direction.

Why not call your mechanic and explain what you're experiencing, and see if he has any suggestions before you bring it in for him to look at?

Your invoice should have part numbers on it to look up the manufacturer.
His immediate reaction was that he will replace the pump.

While Napa's in-house brand has some pretty good stuff, like their oil filters are made by wix...
There is not an aftermarket maker of the fuel pump that is worth installing. And $400 is more than what an oem genuine GM ACDelco costs.... You might want to ask him what brand it was.
When I go to NAPA I am usually asked do I want US or import parts, pricing vastly different.
You can't imagine how bad the welds on a "south of the border" muffler and tail pipe looked. I had one night school welding class and my disaster welds were better.

Just to close it out, the first pump was swapped out under warranty and all has been good since.
Not sure if it was installation error or a bad pump but I don't really care now that it's resolved.

It was a PIA to get the computer to have all systems "ready" for impending emissions test though.
The test tech said the it takes three cycles to get one of them to come back on line and it was the highway portion of the sampling that caused the delay.
