Fog Lights?

I may need to add fog lights to my RST, that install looks nice!!


Here is my RST, just broke 5k miles in 5 months. Also put a 1k amp in on a custom 34hz box. waiting for FI Audio Xv3 12” to arrive (8-10 week wait).

Why would Chevy fail like this? So stupid. I'd be pissed to spend that kind of money and have to add aftermarket lights and switches just to have fog lights like nearly every other vehicle on the road. Another reason I love our yukon, it has bad ass fog lights that put out a ton of light

Looks like someone has validate the proof of concept at leas and showed it can be done, just a matter of finding locatio. Between the location, wiring and switch location the hardest part would be finding location. Since I don’t plan to use the off-road portion of my 22 Z71 the tow hook fairing could be closed over with a bracket or containment box. I would want to have a bracket and housing assembly that could be removed if necessary in the event that vehicle does get off road….read snow, ice etc…and may need to be towed. Not removing the tow hooks just covering them over and the lens assembly would fit into the tow hook housing. Something that cen be used as a fairing to keep somewhat neat looking and professionally installed. Wiring would be custom ad the only question that remains is can te Yukon Fog Light switch be connected to the wiring harness. That provides the neat looking instrument panel look without a extra switch And a neat instrument panel. The other option would be the fog light switch on the center console or possibly off to the side within fingertip reach. Thinking out loud but the wiring harness even if aftermarket harness would probably be the least of the figment issue. Fuse tap adapters, relay bock and power supply to switch and battery seem simple. Trick is to get it looking not only neat but out of the way without making the isnetrument panel look too busy.

These look cool but do they function as a fog light. If these are meant to be mounted horizontal the light pattern would not be right for a vertical mount

What does this do to the warranty? OE lights are integrated into a BCM somehow and I wonder if the add on lighting would have some effect on the absurd high tech electrical systems in these machines.

Suppose it depends on how you wire it up. But if you're just using the harness that comes with the aftermarket lights you're not messing with any of the truck's systems. You're simply pulling power putting it through a relay and switch. Not affecting or in anyway messing with the truck's systems other than the additional power draw from the battery. Which with LEDs should be barely more than a radar detector or tons of gadgets plugged into the truck's outlets/usbs

Finally got my order in on a 23 Highcountry, DMax….love it!

Searching the Internet I came across this thread. I have a set of PIAA 5370 I plan on installing and was wondering where it would be the best location to wire in the white wire.
It comes with a built in relay.

In terms of wiring, if white wire is power to switch to signal relay to turn on lights then we need to know if you want a switched power source or power all the time. If switched power source do you want them only on with headlights, running lights or ?

I plan to mount them with some L brackets on the plastic piece under grill, I’ll take picks of the install. Plan on mounting tomorrow.

I want to switch them on with headlights.

Interesting, on my ‘22 High Country (6.2) that lower panel is not open like yours where you mounted the grill. Does your truck have max tow package or Diesel??

Tapped ito the fuse marked headlights,

Switch was a simple hole , trick was pulling that panel. There’s room tho. I dint take pics.

It’s a diesel, yep on towing package. Never noticed it on my 22 6.2 I traded in tho. Figure it should be the same.

Mounted the Banks gauge today.

I think the diesel wants more airflow so bumper is vented below the grill, makes for a sure enough nice fog light bracket location Any false-positive triggers (from the new fogs) from your front parking sensors ?
