My '99 tahoe, 2dr, 4wd, has 207K miles. I replaced the intake manifold gaskets last year, and it ran good. Early this year, it started having issues.
SO, since I had a vortec engine that I had built years ago for another project, but sold the project, I had this engine installed into the Tahoe.
Engine came out of a '99 truck, bored and stroked to 383 with a mild cam. Had the engine taken apart and checked out, then installed.
Now, the Tahoe runs GREAT, smooth as silk. The fuel injection is adapting well, but may get tuned in the future.
The first tank of fuel yielded 19mpg!
Extremely pleased!
