Forgive me if this was already covered in here. Skimmed a couple times but not sure I caught everything. Two questions:

Q1 aftermarket junction block: I think the intention in this post was to swap in factory wiring. I don't want to do that. My plan is to use an aftermarket junction block. I have a handful of things to wire up aside from this. Curious if anybody has experience with a good aftermarket junction block they would recommend? Something with provisions for say a dozen or so items (air compressor, off road lights, etc. etc. etc.) and is weather sealed for under the hood?

Q2 Fan shroud: I've not looked to closely as the fan setup recently. I don't know if the fans have a provision to hold the upper radiator hose? Currently that's done by my mechanic fan shroud. Otherwise, do I need a different shroud to set on top of the fans to hold that hose?

I don’t suppose @ScottyBoy is still selling harnesses? That’s where I bought mine.

Yeah, I still sell them. I currently have some for sale right now.

Awesome, glad to see you’re still here and still doing that. I’ve been away for awhile dealing with health issues but I’ve been back lurking around lately. @Matthew Jeschke I highly suggest using a factory harness and fuse/relay block for the fans and then if you need something for additional blocks later, you could always make your own or buy aftermarket for that part. The fans are a critical part of the truck when you’re in hot summer days and a long way from home like I was. No fans can leave you stranded.

Yeah no fans are a bad thing. Do they have a factory version that takes the blade fuses instead of the box style?
There’s only one version AFAIK. ScottyBoy would be the expert, he’s seen and sold dozens of the harnesses.

Where does the fan junction box mount? Does anybody have a photo of that?

I'll have to order one when I hear back from @ScottyBoy
It mounts to the 05-96 fuse box. It's a different design then yours. DSCF3975.JPG.jpg
It mounts on the right side of the cover.

Nit sure what Tony means by a different design. There’s a place on all the NBS fuse boxes where the fan relay/ fuse box slides on and clicks into place. There’s little protrusions on one and grooves in the other. If yours doesn’t have those you can screw or rivet it in place. I just went out and took this pic on my 02. It’s a clean, factory look. Mine slid in place. It’s the triangle under the fender mount. And you don’t need to worry about replacing fuses. They don’t blow. Aftermarket is another thing- those will. The top pops off for access.

The fuse box on my 03 was different. Didn't have that extra "triangle " on it, that's why I bought an 05-06 style to go along with my fan conversion. Weird. Is that your original fuse box/cover Mark?

Yes, that’s what I meant. The harness should come with the add-on plastic housing part that holds the relays/fuses and that part just slides onto the 00-04 fuse box. It did on mine anyway as far as I remember. I believe it came with the harness anyway. It’s been awhile. @ScottyBoy should chime in here anytime.
Edit: I looked at his post where he is selling them and I do believe I bought the top cover that’s goes over both fuse boxes ( the regular one and the fan one) but the actual fuse/relay/junction block or whatever you want to call it just slides onto the regular fuse box housing.

Yeah, I sell just the harness and relay block. The whole plastic cover is something completely separate. But on my 2001, everything fits under my stock cover. The only drawback is there's no access cover to access the relays and fuses. If I need to access them, I have to unblock the fender brace and pop the entire cover off. Still pretty easy though, less than 4-5 minutes to get it opened up.

I went to the junkyard to look for fan parts. Spoke with one of the guys there who's a LS fanatic. Knows every hack to man and helped me with a lot of stuff in my build. I told him I was looking to do a electric fan swap and GMT900 brake upgrade (I'll put notes in separate post about that). He says the Cadillac NorthStar parts are AWESOME and recommended electric fans from that. They had a good set of NorthStar fans at the junkyard. He sold me them for $40 so couldn't really pass that up. The crux is they aren't direct fitment. They appear to be same width and about same height. He said he uses zip ties with clips on them to mount them. Then drills a hole for the Christmas tree mount on the radiator hose clamp. Seemed worth a try for a mere $40. Also they are 9 blade fans, unsure of motor wattage.

Cadillac fans were too good to be true. I just did a test fit. Would be a nightmare to mount them. They aren't even wide enough. Unless you're swapping JUST the fans or the fan motors this probably isn't a good idea. I'm going to try and return them then just buy the proposed truck fans.

Iirc you can use NNBS fans, up to at last 2014.
