I bought my first set of EBC brake pads and they only came with inserts for the pistons, no other shims on the pads. Is that how they're supposed to be installed? The OE pads have shims with adhesive on the outer pads to help with noise. The piston inserts don't look thick enough to take up the same space as both shims on the OE pads. I don't see how those could be transferred without destroying them. If that is the case I'm probably going to scuff the outside pad and paint them black.

I just did my rears and no shims in place, nor in the NAPA box with the new ones.

Call EBC and see what’s up. Don’t grind em or u won’t be able to exchange them. It is common to have to sandblast or wire wheel the caliper carrier if too much brake material or rust has accumulated.

I’m not grinding anything. I haven’t even tried to put them on yet.
