I purchased a 2007 Tahoe in 2011. I had the door side moldings replaced because they were coming off the door. Now the same thing is happening. They are coming away from the door and bending out. What to do?

Thanks John

Curious to hear too. Bringing my 09 in next week to get them replaced under the warranty, but figured it will happen again. Wondering if any one just removes them as I see some do with the BSMs on C5 Vettes.

Sounds like the tape just isnt holding. I know we had a bunch come in to our body shop all at once where they were manufactured wrong. Where the tape sat on the back was set in too far and didnt make enough contact to hold on to the door.

Don't wonder -- just look around here some. LOTS of folks ditch the BSMs like they do on C5s.

I ditched the moldings on my '01 Z06, but kept them on my '09 Tahoe (I like the chrome on the Tahoe).

The Tahoe moldings come off the same way, btw.

Leave them off.

Mine are on tight.

If they were coming off though....... I would rake them off and leave them off.

I'd just leave them off. It looks a lot cleaner on any I've seen with them off and on other than the Escalade/LTZ moldings.

Door Moldings

I have a 09 Tahoe I bought new. The molding was peeling from the door then. Of course I identified that during the inspection. long story short and 2 moldings down the road it was replaced. the dealer ordered another, but it was put on at a body up the street from the dealership. This molding is holding up and 5 yrs later this molding still looks brand new and has not peeled at all. But the paint has faded on the other 3 orginal moldings and they are peeling. I have contacted Chevrolet and of course to replace is on me. I asked if this was happening to other tahoe's. I was told no, not to their knowledge

Either use the red 3m tape to put them back on or take them off

We've had a number of issues with new moldings not being made correctly, and the tape is too far set in the molding that it doesn't make good contact with the body. Constantly re-taping or sending them back. If you like the chrome - put some escalade moldings on, or go no moldings. If you're under warranty, by all means get them to replace them!

I removed mine, much better look. Just get a 3m adhesive remover wheel, that thing is the cats rear end.

My drivers door is suffering from the peeling molding on my '09 and has been for a year or so. At first it was just lifting at the rear a little bit but now it's progressed to the front lifting.

My other issue is the passenger side molding that is all oxidized. It's the only thing on the truck that is like that so I'm guessing someone screwed up the paint or prep on that side. Someone mentioned to me in passing there might be a TSB on the issue, can anyone confirm that?

At 104k I doubt I'm going to get them replaced under warranty since I think my super duper extended coverage that expires at 112k is only for powertrain. Any suggestions to try and get the dealer to replace them?
