DL3's on 01 HOE

I want to put DL3 mirrors on my HOe. I know that I have to wire it up. Has anyone done this before. The other thing is can't find the wiring schematic for the window switch and harness. does anyone have the connector schematic....HELP.....HELP

I can post up the wiring system for the door switches (window, mirror, lockout window), but you will not be able to use your oem switches or switches from an 03+.

For the fold in part, you will have to wire in a 2 way toggle (one way for fold in, one way for fold out) and a timed relay. Unless you use a 2 way momentary, but than u will have to hold it until the mirrors finish going in or out.

I did this years ago on my 2001 Denali. You cannot use the OEM 2003+ switches. You have to use to 2002 Escalade Power Folding Mirror switch. It goes where the 4wd controls are. If not, then you can just make your own switch.

So there's no way to splice into the factory harness (cut wire at conn ector) & use new factory connector on the new switch with the corresponding function. Examen: 01 Tahoe rear window switch, cut from 01 connector, put on new 03 switc h with new connector. I don't know much about electronics that's not my forte, but it would seem that would be a solution. Right. It's all about + & -

Not just that anymore; It's also about the data on 03+ GMT800's.

Different modules (BCM, PCM, door modules, HVAC), depending on the function/command, don't just send out a + or -. They send out a data signal which is intrepreted into a + or -.

Your truck (02 or earlier) cannot interpret these data commands.

03+ switches absolutely positively will not work in a 2002 or older. Like Omar said, its not a positive and negative transmitted by them, its a data signal. Think of it like this, its more like a usb cable on a computer. It transmits data, not voltage. Now the actual mirror works off of voltage, but you would have to hardwire it to a different switch, since you cant use a 03 switch in your truck. On a 2003+, the switch sends a data signal to the computer. Then the computer actually sends voltage to move the mirrors, locks, windows, etc. It can be done, but a LOT of rewiring is needed to convert the mirror to run directly on an older switch instead of being computer controlled.

I'm not saying its not possible, so don't give up yet. What I'm saying is that its not possible to do it by using the 03+ switches. If you already have heated, auto dimming mirrors with puddle lights on your 01, it will be that much easier. You just cut the wiring on the DL3 mirror and splice it into your factory 01 mirror wiring. But you will still be left with the wires for power fold and the turn signal arrows. You just extend the turn signal wiring and tie it into your turn signal wiring in the dash at the flasher. The power fold wiring will probably be the hardest part. Most people get a power fold switch from a 2002 Escalade (which is not databus controlled like 03 switches) and connect the power fold wires to that switch. I have one of these switches as I am planning the same thing as you are, to put DL3 mirrors on my 2001.
