Efff me sideways. I went to install the diff cover, new bolts, lube locker gasket, and fancy magnetic drain plug then juice it up with cheap fluid knowing I’ll drain it after a few hundred miles.

Got everything installed and torqued I even cleaned the threads in the bolt holes, only to find out the new cover has a drain plug but no fill port and the axle housing has no fill port. I tried filling from the pressure vent but that wasn’t working the gear lube is too thick.

I drilled and tapped a 12x1.5 hole Aprox where the factory one was on the old cover and then went to Ace only to find they basically stock nothing in 12x1.5 and everything in 12x1.75. I found a 4” long bolt and ended up cutting it to make it fit then used thread sealer the seal it all up.

That’s a stupid cover without a fill hole. Isn’t fluid level pretty critical? I remember watching a bunch of videos on it and even mpg was affected as well as longevity of the diff itself. I think Banks did the videos.

I'm glad you and @Rocketman recommended that lube locker gasket. Put one on the Camaro. Very nice and the last time I crawled under it, it hadn't leaked. Hopefully it says that way

That Banks video series with the plexiglass covers is absolutely badarse! I don’t remember too much about fluid level tbh it’s been awhile since I saw it I remember the main thing was the design of the cover funneling fluid to the pinion bearings which I think this one will do a fairly good job of doing.

I did measure the distance from the bottom hole up to the level of the fill/full plug on the OEM cover so it should be very close. I put 3qts in today and none came out the full hole so it must hold a lot with the extra capacity of the cover.

Thank @Rocket Man hes suggested many things I’ve loved so I try to spread the info around. I just wish I could order every gasket I ever need from lube locker.
