hey yall my check engine light just came back.
last week it came on only while under 1/4 tank. soon as i put a half or more in it would go off.. now with $70 in the truck its still on
when it starts i have strong gas fumes. if a door or window is down. standing next to the hatch and starting with my remote starter is really strong.
the code that came up was/is p0440.
i was told from autozone that it could just be my gas cap leaking pressure, but i dont see how the gas cap would help cause all the fumes.. it doesnt even smell strong on the driverside
or maybe my cat is causing the fumes? it time to be replaced. i have 200k miles on my truck now

just talked to a mechanic friend of mine, he said replace the fuel purge solenoid & gas cap and it should clear the p0440.
he said he had it on his silverado
