Big brake kit help needed

Its about time for brakes, but I don't want to waste money on the stock brakes. I have 18" wheels and 285/65/18LT Nitto grappler tires. They are very heavy and make this tank even harder to stop. What's the most inexpensive big brake setup I can get thats going to actually make a difference on my braking distance? Also, has anybody ever gotten a bigger kit then nit be able to find pads? I want to go cheap, but not so cheap the company I buy from closes shop and I'm no longer able to find pads.

Have you looked in to upgrading to the NNBS brakes? The swap requires calipers/brackets (usually sold together), pads and rotors. The current brake lines can be reused but I'd go SS while I'm at it.

what years did they put the dual piston calipers in that are a direct bolt up to my 2000 Tahoe new body style and will the rotors fit it as well?

2007 Tahoe's and up front brakes only keep your rears! Look at R-1concepts. Get their drill and slotted 2007 and up fronts and new 2000-2006 rears that are also drilled and slotted. I'd also do SS brake lines and Hawk pads or EWC


You will need the brake calipers and caliper brackets for a 2007 and up Tahoe

Someone suggested EBC rotors and pads. Anyone tried these?

You can get the caliper brackets at AutoZone also. I think they were $20-$25 ea.

It's not the easiest install/swap but only set you back $200 maybe and that's converting to the hydroboost brake booster. It oy came in 3/4 ton models and escalades. But I've heard that mod is the best bang for your buck. A family member has the 2004 Chevy suburban 3/4 and it has the hydrobooster and it stops than things like it has 6 piston calipers

Hey, just wanted to let everyone know. The 05+ pickups with drum rears also have the same calipers and rotors as the GMT900s. So that might make it easier to find them in the junk yard, etc. And yes, they come loaded from AutoZone for $99ea with a $50 core charge.

I am about to do this install as well. I have everything except the calipers. My plan is to install the '07 calipers and return the originals as the cores. They don't know what they are looking at in the store, they will take them no problem. Just don't say anything!

I did they can't tell the diff they'll just open the box and see the caliper and bracket. I even returned them with the old brake pads still inside.

Can you do the swap without the braek booster? Is there a prefered model/part number everyone has used?
