I dont believe any LS/LSX engine ever came factory with cast iron heads ever.

So would I need to worry about the castech heads with the LQ4 6.0 in my 2006 Denali xl? Still learning about this motor and I'm concerned about that problem with all I've read about it.

What's the casting number?

I dont believe any LS/LSX engine ever came factory with cast iron heads ever.

The only ones that I know of that had cast iron heads were the '99-00 6.0L.

When I first heard about this I was a lil worried but it seems it's the 4.8 & 5.3

It's on the exterior of the head. Found this on the driver side above the exhaust manifold, close to the firewall.

The head casting number can also be found on the passenger side head below the engine oil fill tube.

The number can be found on the front lower corner of the passenger side head and since the heads can be swapped passenger to driver side and vice versa the number can be found on the driver side head on the far right corner lower side. Its not uncommon for grime to get there and cover the number up. Passenger side is the easiest to see. Ive seen LS engines with 2 heads with cast numbers that didnt match each other.
